To fill our shelves, we seek the best producers from every major and minor wine growing region in the world. While organic and biodynamic viticulture or any of the various other principles of "natural wine" are important to us, we try to choose conscientious wine growers who are better suited to making those decisions. The world of craft beer is currently enjoying its finest hour, and we are thril

led to be taking a role in this ever-evolving cultural phenomenon. Our selection attempts to showcase both the best of our vibrant local scene and the inspirational motherlands, i.e. Belgium, Germany, England, and the American West Coast. Please join us for our free weekly tastings, beer on Thursdays and wine on Fridays. For a schedule of upcoming events, please either sign up for our email list or visit our web site at streetcarwines.com.

Tinashe Nyamudoka from Kumusha graciously included us on his recent US tour, in part to announce the debut of his new experimental range of wines. Included in this offer are his first attempts at pet nat and orange wine, alongside fresh new takes on muscat and carignan, the latter a point of visible pride when Tinashe spoke of it. We were allocated one case of each for this inaugural release, and they’re already going fast. If you’re at all interested, check the link in bio.

Thanks to everyone who joined us last night for our tasting last night. We ran out of glasses (and wine) at the end, so I guess it was hit! Good news if you missed it: we're featuring Jauma for the entire month of May, and offering 10% off all the wines!

Lost in the bumper sticker marketing of natural wine is the hard work and ingenious creativity and experimentation of those who fall under its flashy banner. James Erskine and his team at Jauma exemplify this ethos in rethinking common practices and techniques. One example: rather than employing purchased CO2 in their carbonic maceration for Danby grenache, they pour 50L of mid-fermentation chenin blanc into the vat, using the naturally occurring CO2 that is a by-product of fermentation.

Truly, there's more to these wines than their hip labels and filled checkboxes. We hope you'll take advantage of this month's feature and try out all of the wines from these fantastic, far-flung flag-bearers of South Australia's natural wine movement.

We got a nice haul of from this week’s tasting at . While we there, it was refreshing to notice women outnumbering men 3-1, which is the same ratio of producers whose wines we brought in this week. All this can only mean that better days are ahead for the wine industry, locally and beyond.

Tesselaarsdal, a rare BIPOC, woman-owned wine company, was founded in 2015 by long-standing Hamilton Russell Vineyards employee Berene Sauls. The wine is named after the historic Overberg farming hamlet of Tesselaarsdal, not far from the Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge wine appellation. Berene was born a descendant of the freed slaves who were bequeathed the land by former East India Company settler Johannes Tesselaar in 1810. We had the pleasure and good fortune to meet Berene Sauls last year, and were shocked to learn that we were tasting just her 5th vintage of pinot noir and 3rd vintage of chardonnay. These are far and away the most complete and compelling South African expressions of the two famous Burgundian varieties we’ve ever encountered. Through the end of March, while supplies last, we’re offering the wines $10 below regular pricing. Link in bio.

We received another super fresh drop of this week, including this new, limited release from Guatemala, roasted three days ago! Huehuetenango is a coffee-producing region in western Guatemala’s highlands. Due to its topography, there are a variety of microclimates here that are ideal for coffee cultivation. Named after the popular “cenotes” in the area (a cenote is essentially a sinkhole formed by the collapse of limestone that exposes groundwater), the Cenotes of Candelaria are considered a must-visit for tourists. A system of underground rivers connects two pools of crystal clear water that change colors from turquoise blue to bright green.
