By choosing slopes with a uniform snowpack deeper than about 5 feet, it is appropriate to step out into more aggressive terrain choices right now.

This map shows modeled snow depths from the National Operational Hydrologic Remote Sensing Center. On a regional scale, you are more likely to find lingering trouble in areas with purple hues, where snow depths are less than about 5 feet. On a slope-specific scale, you are most likely to find lingering trouble where winds have created thin and variable snow depths, such as on windward aspects.
