Three Sisters Falls | Hiker Slips and Falls Over 10+ Feet
Our video team took a hike up to Three Sisters Falls last week and captured this video. Two young ladies that were also on the trail decided to climb up higher to the upper waterfall. Instead of climbing up the cliff on the proper side with the rope lines, these ladies decided to make the steep climb upwards on the other side. As can be seen in the video, one of them slipped down the steep cliff and fell at least 10 feet before hitting the water. She was very lucky to make it out of that unscathed. A few moments later, we hear her yelling for help. Turns out she doesn't know how to swim and neither does her friend. She could very well have drowned had it not been for David Koplewicz who jumped in to pull her out.
This kind of dangerous & wreckless behavior could cost you your life. We can’t emphasize that enough. PLEASE ACT RESPONSIBLY DURING YOUR VISIT TO THE BACKCOUNTRY. GET INFORMED AND BE PREPARED. We were also very appalled to see a lot of graffiti along the trail and trash. UNACCEPTABLE. RESPECT OUR ENVIRONMENT AND NATIONAL FOREST. If you ever see somebody engaging in this kind of behavior, try to document the incident with video/photos and report it to the authorities. You can also send us a message with the information and we’ll report it for you.

County Takeover of the JCFPD Underway
San Diego’s last independent volunteer fire district - JCFPD needs our help. As of June 1, 2018, the county fire authority has commenced a take over of the department with little regard for due process or the upcoming LAFCO proceedings. This takeover is well underway despite the protest of many people in the Julian community. We need to get the message out. This may be our last opportunity to prevent a full county takeover of the Julian Cuyamaca Fire Protection District.

Backcountry | San Diego's Last Frontier
San Diego county is currently ranked as the most bio-diverse habitat in the continental United States. In the very heart of this bustling city is the Backcountry - a rare oasis with its majestic snow capped mountains, grasslands and deserts abloom with flowers. The most biologically rich county is, however, also the most threatened. As the population of southern California grows exponentially; we're potentially faced with new challenges that threaten this unique habitat.
We all have our part to play in the preservation of this region. Visit our web-site to learn more about responsible tourism and our on-going environmental conservation efforts Learn how you can help: https://discoverjulian.com/ind…/about-us/responsible-tourism
