A cardboard compactor has replaced the recycle bins at the Ketchum Recycling Center (215 Lewis Street, next to the car wash), which will save space, reduce carbon emissions and noise pollution, and be more cost-effective. Check out how to use it in the provided video.
Thank you streets and maintenance crews in Ketchum, and throughout the valley, who work diligently to keep the roadways clear throughout the winter!
Snow is falling (literally!). The storm arrived too late this morning for heavy equipment—graders, blowers, and trucks—to completely clear many core streets in town. Snow removal will take place in residential areas this morning and then move into town to finish the main roadways tonight.
More than snow on the rooftops is melting—due to unexpected above average temperatures, the ice rink at Atkinson Park will be closed for the remainder of the season. Thank you for your support, we look forward to seeing you on the ice next winter.
Happy Election Day! Don't forget to head to the polls...

The Sawtooth Avalanche Center has issued AVALANCHE WARNINGS for all zones. The avalanche danger is HIGH or EXTREME. We expect danger to peak this afternoon and evening.
Heavy snowfall, rain, and strong wind will overload a weak snowpack. Very dangerous avalanche conditions exist. Avalanches could impact roadways, trails, and structures in the valley bottom. Avalanches will be large enough to dam rivers, snap trees, and destroy a wood frame house.
