Spring is here on the Midcoast of Maine! Yesterday Maine Guide took a little trip to visit Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson, Maine in preparation for our ladies bikepacking trip at the end of May. HVNC is a gem of land tucked inland and cared for by . The center offers miles of trails, a working forest, many ecosystems to explore and gear and lodging to rent in all seasons. For our trip, we will be staying in the Pond Hut and there is still room to join us! The Newcastle tasting room is in close proximity and a great place to unwind after our trip if you want to extend the good vibes with a tasty local brew 😉🍻

GUIDED FAT BIKE TOURS

The Carrabassett Valley region offers many options for winter fat biking. These include multi-use Nordic trails, snowmobile trails and specially groomed single track surfaces. The experience of fat biking can be highly variable and is dependent on conditions. When the conditions for skiing become icy and hard, typically the fat biking trails are in excellent shape. When the snow is soft and loose, fat biking can be more exhausting. A guided tour will ensure you the best route given current conditions and your experience level.

All guided fat bike tours are led by a licensed registered Maine Guide with up-to-date mountain bike instruction and advanced outdoor first aid certifications. All riders receive a complimentary bike safety check before each ride as well as tips to ensure you have the best time possible on your fat bike. Video and photo services are available at an additional cost.

Gear rentals, food and lodging are available locally, please reach out for recommendations.

Leaves are starting to change around here and should be peaking for our Foliage weekend at Flagstaff Hut Oct 6-8! This leafy season is a time to celebrate the harvest, get ready for winter and plan for next year. We will offer Fatbiking activities this winter, seminars on bikepacking and are looking forward to more programming and route stewardship in 2024, and grateful to be working closer with ! A major goal has been to offer equipment rentals (bikes + bags + bikepacking tents etc). Having a fleet of gear will allow us to work with youth and groups who do not have their own equipment. You can support this by signing up and/or sharing the Foliage FUNdo weekend and Bikepack Maine in general. We appreciate all the support so far ❤️

Working hard on getting details finalized so we can open registration for the Foliage FUNdo (because it will be FUN!) 🍁 Little birds are telling us that some amigos just want to sign up for the ride and some amigos just want to come stay and eat at the hut and play with the boats while their buddies are out riding all day. Some friends are down to share a bunk room and others want a private room. When we say “All Inclusive” we mean everyone is welcome and we are working hard to make options to suit everyone. So thank you for your patience and understanding.
