I know it can be very challenging…. We didn’t get our personal finances under control until after that. We paid off $34,025 in 21 months! I want to teach you what I wish I would’ve known while we were still fostering. The Household Budget Coach site is here to build a community for foster parents to thrive in their personal finances and as foster parents. If I can help you remove the financial str
ess from your life then you can spend more of your energy focusing on what matters most – the kids you are trying to help. To help you get organized and get your personal finances on track I’ll provide:
blog articles
worksheets
video training
and more…. If you take action your situation will change! The goal
It's my goal to provide training and resources that will enable you to take control of your household budget, turn your financial life around and create the future you want for you and your family. Having your finances under control will enable you to be the best foster parent you can be. No more mental energy wasted on worrying about money. I have experience keeping up with the Jones' and managing my personal finances just like everyone else. Just like you, I quickly found out that doesn't work. Don't you just hate when you make a large purchase using borrowed money you have to pay back with interest? Making decisions like:
Do I make my car payment or house payment first? How about this experience, running out of money before you run out of month. Christmas is awesome until you realize it's March the following year and you're still paying for it. These are scenarios your average family might find themselves in. Being a foster parent just adds another layer of financial complexity. If you find yourself encountering these types of situations then I am glad you're here. It doesn't matter if you make $50,000 per year or $250,000 we can all find ourselves struggling to make it all work and come together financially. About Me
I'm Michael Taylor. I am happily married and have been for 20+ years. I am the father of 4 awesome kids (3 sons, 1 daughter). My wife, Amy, and I began to get control of our finances in 2008-2009 as a result of what we learned from Dave Ramsey. His Biblical teachings on personal finance and debt free living were the tipping point that enabled us to get traction on drastically reducing debt, saving money and creating the future we wanted for our family. This was after we had spent the previous 6 years as foster parents. As of this writing we are debt free, except for the house. We have a sizable emergency fund in our savings account. We have paid cash for multiple automobiles from money we saved. We have taken a vacation to Disney World and paid for it in cash. We've been to Colorado, Florida Keys and other places. We are investing in a 401k and saving for our kids’ college. Our oldest son has had braces and the other 3 are in the process of wearing braces, all paid for with cash. I am not saying all of this to brag, but to help you see what is possible with good, sound, consistent household budget management. Overcoming the Budget Roadblock
