Aloha friends and Ohana.

As many of you are aware, a tragic wildfire has completely destroyed Lahaina homes and businesses on August 8, 2023. Unfortunately, our family owned business, Segway Maui, has been one of the businesses lost to the fire. For those of you who have shared the love and passion for historic Lahaina as Segway Maui did, we appreciate any support to help us recoup after this tragic event. Mahalo to everyone

Just about every day someone asks me,

“Why So Many Rainbows in Hawaii?”

According to science, Hawaii is the best place on earth to see rainbows. 🌈🌎

The archipelago of Hawai'i lies in the subtropical Pacific, a prime location for the northeast trade winds to provide not only a cooling breeze for 250 to 300 days a year, but to bring frequent rain showers.

The Mountains redirect these trade winds skyward, creating more rainclouds above and around them, and then carry that rain to clearer skies resulting in perfect conditions to see a rainbow at both morning and closer to sunset. Additionally, because of its remote island location, the clean air of Hawai'i makes the rainbows more vibrant by having less pollutants to dull them.

LOCAL STYLE - A STORY FROM A LOCAL BRADDAH: I come from one small island in the BIG PACIFIC OCEAN called MAUI , HAWAII part of the HAWAIIAN ISLANDS.

If you've ever lived or was raised hea you say, WAT EVAS, DAKINE, WAT DAT, WASSUP, BRAH, HOWZIT, K DEN, LOLO, PAU and SHOOTS to name a few. When you go to other people's houses, there's always some kind of ONO grinds (food) to eat. If you need anything at all, someone's got your back!!!

Ohana (family) is everything and we care for our elders until the day they go onto paradise! Everybody knew everybody hea. We learned how to HUNT, FISH and drive 4wd. We eat POI, RAW FISH and SEAFOOD (with the heads still on) and drink HAWAIIAN SUN, ALOHA MAID or DIAMOND HEAD drinks everyday. From the day we were born, HO'OLAULE'A, MERRIE MONARCH, KUHIO, and KAMEHAMEHA days are holidays we thought were celebrated everywhere until we talk to people from the mainland (LOL). And yes, Aloe does cure everything!!

Musicians🎤🎷🎸🎹🎺📯💽 (not athletes) are the most popular kids in school. Shopping carts are (WAGONS) Refrigerators are called ICE BOX. Living room is DA PALA. We say 👈TRY MOVE👉 instead of excuse me. For respect, we call others AUNTY👩,UNCLE👨, SISTAH👧, BRADDAH👦, GRAMMA👵, GRANDPA👴 related to you or not. Oh and if you DISRESPECT your elders, pray no one calls your mom and dad or bumbai (LATER) you going get LICKINS👊 or CRACKS👊. HAWAII is a place where discipline is not child abuse. McDonald's food trays were used as hand boards to body surf and everyone used RUBBA SLIPPAS!

Many visitors like to visit ponds and waterfalls noted in travel books, but do your research make sure you are not trespassing on private property.

Looks are deceiving, a seemingly beautiful day, can instantly turn into a flash flood situation. Look at the mountains, if there are dark clouds, water may rapidly rise, without warning, you may get trapped or swept away.
Do not cross rising waters!

Don’t leave valuables in your rental car. If you see broken glass where you are parking, it is likely that a vehicle has been broken into.

Our ocean is beautiful but can be unpredictable.
Don’t turn your back and when in doubt, don’t go out.

Lastly remember even in paradise there is Covid-19.

Please help slow the spread, wear your mask, wash your hands and socially distance.
