Tonight’s open seated tour was absolutely perfect!
My new neighbors from Rhode Island joined in to learn about their new town, and I even had some longtime locals—residents of Lake Orion for 50 years—who had never been *on* the lake before! The weather couldn’t have been better—just the right balance, not too hot or cold, and calm waters. There was just the right amount of activity on the lake, and we were treated to a stunning sunset. I also shared some newly discovered treasures from my collection, adding a special touch to the tour. It was a full evening of stories and sights, and I’m sure everyone had a great time! Thank you everyone for coming!

Last night’s tour was the perfect girls’ night out with some moody sweater weather to set the scene. What started as a cloudy evening quickly cleared up, and the warmth rolled in just as we hit the water. It was a nostalgic trip for Cheryl, who grew up in Lake Orion and loved pointing out her friends’ houses. After the tour, they capped off the evening with dinner at our lakefront restaurant… where they were in for a real treat with a surprise visit from our dragon! 🐉.

Two Tours today back to back. 😎 we had someone on board that had ties to an interesting Jimmy Hoffa story, and went down memory lane with someone who lived on the lake in the 80’s and couldn’t believe how much the lake has grown. If you can’t decide which tour to book…. It has morphed into a mix of both tours! Few dates still available in August. I will doing offering tours thru September.

Farewell to my 15th boat tour season! 🌅

As the Indian summer gifts us with two extra weeks of warmth, it's time to reluctantly pack up my suitcase... 🧳 because, to my surprise, the bathrooms at Greens Park have been winterized earlier than expected. 😢

Yesterdays tour was for a group of seniors from Cedarbrook. It was the perfect ride- not too hot, not too cold… perfect amount of breeze and sunshine. With the lake to ourselves, it was so peaceful. We had a few on board with some interesting stories themselves… one was an extra in the movie Hoffa, another that built a home on mackinaw and understood the challenges of island living without a vehicle.

It appears that the Roaring 20’s boat tour has yet to gather the enthusiasm I had hoped for today. Perhaps it’s the weather, or maybe it’s just one of those mysterious days when time travel feels a bit elusive.

🚤🌟 Today’s tour was a serene escape from the usual Saturday buzz on Lake Orion. We had an amazing group of inquisitive teenagers eager to uncover our town’s hidden history gems, and it’s worth noting that even though these tours are typically “adults only,” I always make exceptions for teens genuinely interested in Lake Orion’s resort era. And, without fail, they’ve consistently proven to be my best listeners! But hold on to your life vests, because guess what stole the spotlight? 🏄‍♂️🌊 A hydrofoil electric surfboard gracefully gliding across the lake – a modern twist on time travel that left us all in awe! 🌊⚡

It was a heartwarming experience as we celebrated Grandma's birthday with some quality family time on the water. Moments like these remind us that history and adventure can go hand in hand.

Unforgettable day spent on a 4-hour private boat charter with an awesome crew! ⛵️ From marina regulars to full-on charter enthusiasts, this group knows how to make waves. Last year's 3-hour adventure was just a warm-up – they nailed it with a 4-hour voyage this time! ☀️🏝️ The sandbar swim stop was a highlight, and the lakeside views were simply breathtaking. This week, I had the incredible pleasure of captaining a Personal Charter for a group of fabulous MSU alumni who also happened to be roommates back in the day.

Out of the fantastic six ladies who shared a house, three of them hopped aboard for a nostalgic boat ride filled with laughter, reminiscing, and an unforgettable playlist straight from their glory days. 🎶🎉 Picture this: six girls, one phone, and one bathroom – the ultimate recipe for hilarious stories and lifelong friendships. 😄✨

Flash back Friday to early June- we took a walk down memory lane, where we used to go to school here in Lake Orion. Had the joy of teaching second graders to be historians during their last week of school. I was joined by my talented friend Nicole Curtis who preserves history through restoring historical homes.

We explored the importance of talking to elders about their stories and dove into Lake Orion's history from 100 years ago. The kids' enthusiasm was contagious as we explored more stories and historical events that shaped Lake Orion a century ago. It was incredible to witness their curiosity and eagerness to learn more about our town's vibrant past! 📜🔎

Teaching these young historians was an absolute delight. Together, let's preserve our heritage and pass it on to future generations!❤️

Meet one of my recent hosts, Dawn Stuber from Shady Oaks Drive. She is still hanging onto her Original 1939 Cottage on the lake. I did some digging to try and find her original cottage name but was unsuccessful. Although the Orion Review had some fun articles from the 1940s about the lovely lawn parties and picnics the Ramsays used to host. Great tour Dawn, thank you for sharing the stories of growing up on "Shady Lane".

Tour #2 of 2 yesterday with a pickup and drop off from Currie island… aka West Point. Sorry guys it’s not Maggie! I was a little out of sorts on the second tour with telling everyone to open their books to page 12 to start. 🤣. But I recovered quickly and we all had a good laugh! We had some Historians on board that will be helping track down some documents. 🥰🤓 It was nice getting to know some more neighbors from the Lake. Thanks for putting this together guys. Fun group! PS. I did not make that beautiful charcuterie board.
