One of my favorite places in Lakefield just announced their Summer U-Pick Dates 💐 so worth a stop … soak up all the goodness Hilary’s been nurturing.

Time spent with nature is never wasted, and a Self-Serve U-Pick in the Meadow is a nature experience like none other.

Might I add, the flowers this summer are DREAMY.

We have over 30 varieties of flowers planted this year, so come out to the farm, just 6 miles southwest of town (Lakefield), and pick a bouquet that is totally and uniquely you!

We supply the vase, snips, and workspace while you pick the arrangement of your dreams.

This experience is a favorite among individuals looking for some alone time with nature, friends looking to have fun, couples on a date night, and families looking to spend quality time together.

Our U-Pick weekends operate from 8am-8pm.

Cash, Venmo, Paypal payment accepted at the farm, day of the event.

The Haus has one more set of guests to host here in June and then she is *completely* booked the entire month of July! What a dream... As always our guests have such kind words for us after staying at the Haus and we so appreciate how YOU all appreciate the love we poured into this space.

"The space was immaculately clean and well-maintained, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in the door. The decor was charming and cozy, with thoughtful touches throughout that added to the overall ambiance. Despite its small size, it was surprisingly spacious due to the layout, and it had everything we needed for a comfortable stay...The kitchen was well-equipped with all the necessary appliances and utensils. The full size washer and dryer a bonus. One of the things we loved the most was its location. It was situated right on Main Street making it easy to explore the area and enjoy everything the town had to offer. Also only a 20 min drive to Okoboji for a day trip. Overall, we would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing getaway. CALLING ALL FORMER ATTENDEES OF THE LAKEFIELD SCHOOL

With this being the final Summerfest before the school is torn down, we thought this would be the opportunity to collect some oral histories from folks about their experiences at the school. Too often, we don't have the opportunity to share our own stories and become a part of history, and this project gives people the ability to do that and enables us to preserve the school for future generations although the building won't be there anymore.

So, whether you're a Panther, Silver Bullet, or Husky, we invite you to come in throughout the week and sit down for an oral history interview. We expect each interview to take about 20-30 minutes, but we will certainly let the film continue running if there are more stories to be told. The interviews will be sound recorded and held for posterity's sake at JCHS. Down the line, it's possible we would transcribe them so researchers could read them or even incorporate them into a future exhibit. Hours are 9:30-4:00 Monday through Friday. Stop on by and help memorialize your former school!

The Haus has been happily hosting summer guests who get to enjoy the comings and goings of our Main Street and the beautiful sunshine through the big picture windows in the main living space.

We’ve also been getting lots of compliments on the queen size pull out couch - here’s what one of our most recent guests had to say: “…Where did you buy your couch?! Love the pullout and it not being one of the old fashion spring pullouts. Also want to compliment you on how clean and tidy the place is, nothing is better than a clean place to stay so thank you!!”

✨ The Lakefield Bakery ✨

Hello friends! It’s been quiet here, but things have been busy at the Haus. Over the month of January we made a few changes at the Haus which included adding a full size washer and dryer which is a fabulous amenity for our Haus guests who continue to come and stay and enjoy this sweet space and the wonderful little town of Lakefield.

We also have been busy with the building next to the
Haus… the Lakefield Bakery 🍩 we own the bakery building and in December the prior operator who rented the building closed her business, which means we are entering the next chapter for this sweet (literally) space on Main Street 🧁

We feel a very strong and deep sense of loyalty to this building and to the residents of Lakefield that this space stay a bakery, as it has been so for more than 100 years. It’s an amazing history and the support that Lakefield has for its bakery is out of this world. We can’t wait for that to continue. This is a great space and is perfect for someone wanting to start or expand their bakery business.

We would love for you to send any one interested in pursuing opening a bakery our way … we’re excited for this new chapter and can’t wait to see what that looks like.
