It’s just better in The Bahamas…

Who’s coming with us when we get off the ship in Key West this September?

Mallory Square – if you are coming from the ship, this is very close. It's where Jimmy used to play for free with the street performers at the Sunset celebration.

The Chart Room Bar, at 1 Duval Street – Jimmy’s famous first road trip with Jerry Jeff Walker and Teresa Clark ended up here. Jimmy wrote “A Pirate Looks at 40” about Phil Clark, who was a bartender.

Shrimpboat Sound– Jimmy’s “secret studio”, it’s on the Harbor Walk where Greene Street meets Elizabeth Street. facing Conch Republic. It's a pretty simple building that is absolutely covered with stickers! It now also has a very special tribute to Jimmy which includes a number of items that will make sense to his fans.

B.O.’s Fish Wagon – 801 Caroline Street, supposedly The Coral Re**er Band’s “Home Turf”.

Margaritaville – 500 Duval St. – the bartenders keep the Buffett Bible – a quasi-encyclopedia of his song lyrics. The original location of Margaritaville is near Half Shell Raw Bar where local color now stands.

Captain Tony’s– 428 Greene St – In the men’s bathroom, see where he wrote the lyrics to Last Mango in Paris, it’s framed and women can go in to see it.

Caroline Street – at the corner of Caroline and Ann is where the “inspiration” for “There’s a Woman Going Crazy on Caroline Street” supposedly lived.

Fausto’s – at 522 Fleming Street – stop in to get a chocolate milk, see “My Head Hurts, My Feet Stink, and I don’t Love Jesus” lyrics.

Blue Heaven – 729 Thomas Street – “we’ll be together now and forever at the Blue Heaven Rendezvous”.

Jimmy’s old apartment – At the corner of Waddell Avenue and Alberta Street (near the Southernmost Point, the Coconut Beach Resort is where it was). He lived on the second floor at 704 Waddell. This is where he wrote many albums from 1974-1979 (Living and Dying in ¾ Time, A1A, Havana Daydreamin, Changes in Latitudes, Son of a Son of a Sailor).

Louie’s Backyard – 700 Waddell Avenue - The Afterdeck Bar there is where he was talking about in Trying to Reason – “I knew I could use a Bloody Mary, so I stumbled next door to the bar”. Continue to be a favorite of Jimmy's always...

Smather's Beach – 2700 block of S. Roosevelt Blvd (A1A soon to be renamed after Jimmy) – where he shot videos for Come Monday and Who’s the Blonde Stranger.

123 Ann St – the first residence for Jimmy in Key West, where he rented a room.

The Snake Pit (The Old Anchor Inn) – it’s now the Red Garter Saloon at 208 Duval St.

Howie’s Lounge – it’s now the 5dollar at 109 Duval St

Crazy Ophelia’s Cafe - 615 Duval St. One of Jimmy’s first Key West shows on January 27, 1972. It was also the first place Margaritaville was performed publicly. It’s now Antonia’s Restaurant.

Fins up! Enjoy!

Recently, The State Department released a travel advisory for the Bahamas. Unfortunately, our Government treats the Bahamas as one giant Island, not the actual 700 islands that exist. Nassau has had a recent spike in crime. Similar to every city in America. The media ran with the headline and made it seem that all the Bahamas Islands were under a crime wave. This is categorically untrue!

I just wanted to add clarity to the numerous questions about Freeport, Grand Bahama Island's safety. Many of you know by now, we are very involved with tours to Grand Bahama and have traveled in every section of the island at all times of the day/night. ALWAYS VERY SAFE. PLEASE see the facts below. Notice the size of GBI versus the size of Nassau. Grand Bahama Island is over 6 times larger in actual size yet Nassau has over 5 times the number of people living on it. I hope this comforts many of you. Please continue to spread the word. We understand why tourists are confused. The media is not clear. The comparison is unfair to the incredible Grand Bahamian people. Thanks to all that care and willing to spread accurate information. Hope to see you on the island. 🇧🇸
