U. S. News and World Report
November 2017

Royal Caribbean was named the number one “Best Cruise Line for the Money” by U.S. News & World Report, in its annual “Best Cruise Lines” ranking, taking the title from last year’s winner, Celebrity Cruises.

Celebrity came in second this year, followed by Norwegian Cruise Line.

Disney Cruise Line topped the list again for the fifth consecutive year for both the Best Cruise Line for Families and the Best Cruise Line in the Caribbean, besting second-place family finisher Royal Caribbean International and Carnival Cruise Lines in third. Royal and Celebrity came in second and third respectively in the Best Cruise Line in the Caribbean category.

Crystal took best luxury line.

The magazine’s evaluation criteria included: expert evaluations of cruise ship quality; reputation among travelers; results from health assessments conducted by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; and other factors such as price class and itinerary offerings.

Travel insurance??

People often ask me if they should have travel insurance. The answer is yes - but what kind? How much? From whom?

Insurance is complicated, but basically, you want to include it in the cost of your vacation and hope you never have to use it because that means you have problems (just like your house or car insurance).

Right now, people are asking me about travel insurance and hurricanes. The simplest answer is that travel insurance will travel usually cover your trip IF you purchased that insurance BEFORE the storm gets a NAME.

Irma got her name on August 30, 2017 so travel insurance for Irma would have had to be purchased prior to that date.

Check your credit card. You may have some coverage for some unreimbursed travel expenses.

Wanna make some long terms plans for a cruise? Consider February 2018 on the magnificent Oasis of the Seas from Port Canaveral.

That's a good price anytime but unheard of over the premium date of Christmas.

Tip of the day

Always check your sailing prices ! If they drop before final payment, you can get the price reduction.

If it is after final, you may be able to upgrade your room for little or no cost.

I just did this this morning for friends on 2 separate sailings. It pays to watch!

New wine policy on Royal Caribbean! Starting today, guest can carry their OWN wine aboard and there will be NO corkage fee in the dining room!

This means you can take 2 bottles of wine with you on board and you can carry a bottle of wine with you to dinner.

Before today, a corkage fee of $25 per bottle was charged to take your wine to the dining room, so this is a very nice change in policy.
