The Festival of Ice is the perfect way to kick off the holiday season in the Juniata River Valley. Christmas time is the jolliest time of the year, and merriment is everywhere! It is the best time to celebrate the joy of this wonderful season and have fun with your friends, family and loved ones. Join us on the sidewalks of Downtown Lewistown and enjoy the creative displays in our storefront windo

ws, around the Historic Courthouse and the selfie station on Monument Square. Plus, the planters have been filled with winter arrangements and sidewalk chalk murals will feature the lyrics of some of your favorite Christmas songs. Grab an entry form and keep a tally of all of the candy canes you find in the windows of businesses listed on the map. Enter to win one of four prizes. Come join us for the annual Festival of Ice. There is no better place to be than on Market Street in downtown Lewistown, PA during the festival. Gaze at the beautifully carved ice sculptures, go for an old fashioned wagon ride, listen to carolers and live music, participate in children’s activities and even visit with Santa Claus himself. Making spirits bright is what the Juniata River Valley Visitors Bureau is all about! This transformation into holiday magic would not be possible without the First Night State College Ice Sculptors of DiMartino Ice. These talented ice carvers will be carving large ice block creations right before your eyes. There is truly something for all ages at the Festival of Ice. Always held on Thursday and Friday evenings the week after Thanksgiving, this hometown holiday tradition continues thanks to the Juniata River Valley Visitors Bureau and a lot of volunteer help from the community.

The annual gingerbread house contest at the Festival of Ice raised $2,000 for the Mifflin County Library this year! WOW!!

What an amazing opportunity to work with the Mifflin County Library and its Children's Department. Faith's House of Hope raised $2,000. Your gifts and participation in our 2023 Gingerbread House Competition and workshops made this a HUGE SUCCESS!

Sam the Hot Dog guy is open for lunch, now through 2 p.m. in the Juniata Valley Bank parking lot on Monument Square. He will then reopen at 4 p.m. for the festival.

Aloha! The first night of the Festival of Ice was lit! Thank you to everyone who showed up in droves to view the ice and have a little tropical fun!
The festival runs tonight, rain or shine, from 6-9 p.m. Come see the live music, live nativity, painting party, kid's activities, wagon rides, food, vendors, and Santa himself!

Thank you Sacred Heart School!

The students of SHS helped decorate the courtroom of the Historic Courthouse for this year's Festival of Ice - Juniata River Valley! Head upstairs tonight and tomorrow to see the many wreaths the students helped make and see some entertainment while you're there! We will also be singing on the courthouse steps at 6:15! See you there!

‼️ The Festival of Ice is next week ‼️😱
We have more than doubled the amount of food vendors that will be coming to the festival this year. They include Sam's Hot Dogs, Buckeye Concessions, Farm Show Milkshakes, SolidGold Concessions, Curbside Kitchen/Sticky Bun Cafe, Sinister Mini Donuts, Hungry Run, E.L. Baked Goods, Batter & Dough Bakeshop, Potlicker Foods and Catering, AllyKat's Country Store and Pine Ridge Coffee.

There will also be a handful of our downtown restaurants open during the festival. Be sure to stop by and support our local businesses!
