You’ve probably seen pictures of Iceland’s famous Blue Lagoon, and the video above is Sky Lagoon which I love. The sky was cloudy and you can see the steam coming off the water. Spending a couple of hours in this geothermal pool was relaxing and perfect after a long flight.
But these two are mainly for tourists. Did you know that the capital city, Reykjavik, has 17 geothermal pools? Hot water is abundant in this country and the people make good use of it. They heat their homes with hot water from the earth and enjoy a dip in the pools regularly. It’s part of daily life here. These pool facilities tend to look a bit like sports centers (think high school swimming pool center) and some have slides for kids. The entire community takes advantage of this natural resource.
From the Visit Reykjavik website:
“In the morning you will encounter elderly ladies and gents in the hot tubs, discussing news-related stuff and the weather (PRO TIP: Icelanders love to talk about the weather!) Later in the day, families gather, so that the young ones can spend the rest of that day’s energy and the parents can relax in the warm water. And the list goes on: people go on dates in the pools, friends meet up and others come solo for the Zen quality of the water and steam.”
The pools are not chlorinated and to help keep them clean, everyone must shower before they get in. And yes that means no bathing suite and using soap, not just a quick rinse off. Have you visited any geothermal pools?

The #1 travel problem I hear about these days is expired passports! I belong to many Travel Agent groups and I’m surprised at the number of agents that are sharing about this particular issue. 😱
This is what I’m hearing:
✈️ Client believed their passport was valid only to find out it had expired just before leaving for their trip.
✈️ Client wants to schedule a trip and knows their passport is “somewhere” but then can’t find it.
✈️ Client’s passport doesn’t have enough months of validity after the trip is over. (Many airlines/countries will not let people travel if their passport expires within 6 months *after* returning from their trip. Each country has their own rules, but as a guideline, Travel Agents will advise clients to have at least 6 months on their passport after their trip is over.)
Having a valid passport is a requirement when someone calls me to plan a trip - and I’m definitely asking for copies of it. 😂
Keep those valuable passports in the same safe place every time so you don’t have to go hunting at 11pm the night before your flight. Freaking out about not finding your passport is not a great way to start a vacation. 😬
So, if you’re a wanderluster like I am, go find your passport now and check the expiration date. If it’s expired, start the process for renewal as soon as you can. Record numbers of people are traveling this year and next and the U.S. Dept of State is overwhelmed with applications.🤩
Post your expiration date below. No judgment here! Mine is May 2031 🙌
Sadly our time in Costa Rica has come to an end. It’s has been an amazing 2 weeks. I’ll post pics soon. We visited Arenal, Monteverde, and Tamarindo. The trip wasn’t always easy - for this SoCal girl humidity is not fun and can we talk about the 5 hour drive from Monteverde to Tamarindo? 😨 But we saw monkeys, swam in beautiful water, hiked through gorgeous forests, ate fantastic food, and enjoyed the hospitality of the Costa Rican people. I can’t wait to go back. Have you been to this beautiful country yet?
I’ll start! My collapsible 1 liter Platypus water bottle goes with me everywhere. I love it because I can fill up on my trip, and this bottle lays FLAT when empty! 🙌 Perfect for someone like me who wants to avoid disposable bottles, stay hydrated, and pack light. 🤩 I love hearing what people love to travel with. What’s your travel must-have?

I recorded this last week on our last night aboard Carnival Radiance. I walked out on our balcony - it was biting cold and it was incredible! The previous nights I had seen only 1 or 2 birds flying along our ship and this was a lovely surprise.

The Pacific Ocean! I love being at sea! Don’t like the nausea I sometimes feel until I get my sea legs and open air is the cure for me. I’ve been cruising this week for a Seminar at Sea on Carnival learning about their brand. Have you sailed Carnival before?

Anyone else feel this way when they travel? 🙋♀️ And #iceland is one of the most beautiful countries I’ve seen so far. What city/country makes you want to move?
Can anyone pick out any of the places here? Hint: In Iceland 😍
This Glacier Lagoon in Iceland. The absolute stunning beauty cannot be captures on video! And I’m telling you, the energy here is incredible! I was moved to tears when we arrived. Birds, seals, and listen to that wind! That Glacier Blue is out of this world. We’ll be visiting this place on my group tour to Iceland in September. A couple of spots still available. Link in bio for more info

I’m in Jacksonville, FL, for a week-long Travel Agent Seminar. Constant education makes me a better travel agent and better able to take care of you. The travel industry changes rapidly, and a good agent stays informed! Today I met Jeff Shafer, the Regional Sales Director of Allianz Travel Insurance and learned so much about their service. I was so impressed (really impressed!) with what Allianz offers that I’ll be using this insurance for myself and offering it to my clients. And they offer pandemic coverage! I always buy travel insurance for peace of mind - except that one time which I’ll share about in another post . . .🙄🤦♀️🙄 What do you think? Have you had travel insurance that came in handy? Feel free to share or ask questions below.
20 min from landing!
Landed in Reykjavik a few days ago and have been touring southern Iceland. What a gorgeous country! Collecting recommendations for my clients!
