A full day in Juneau today - with plenty of sunshine 🌞 The group ventured out on their own, picking activities they were excited about: riding the tram to the top of Mt. Roberts, seeing Mendenhall Glacier, getting a close up look at Totem Poles or ‘hunting’ for eagles!

Our Alaskan Cruise Tour started our cruise portion a few days ago. Yesterday we cruised to magnificent Hubbard Glacier. The ice at the base is estimated to be 400 years old! This morning we docked at Icy Strait Point and were met with a steady stream of rain - as well as eagles and a pod of 10 or so whales!!

A private TRIPS event onboard the American Harmony this evening after a wonderful excursion to Mount St. Helens! From Lewiston, Idaho through different terrain along the way and from Mt. Hood and Mt. We boarded the Alaska Railway train in Denali bound for Talkeetna and on to Anchorage! The scenery in Alaska is truly breathtaking!!

Several optional excursion choices today from the American Harmony including the Sacajawea Cultural Center to a wine tasting afternoon to 4 various Washington state wineries! Some of our group ended up at “Chukar Cherries” that offers up several varieties of Washington State cherries coated in chocolate and other cherrry jams and products! A picture perfect first day in Alaska! The Riverboat Discovery gave us a great look at Athabascan Life,the amazing sled dogs of the late Susan Butcher (who won the Ididerod 4 times) and life on the river!! Our day started with a stop at the Alaskan Pipeline - one of our travelers from Mississippi has a personal connection - her father spent time in Alaska in the 1970s working on the pipeline as a welder! An 800 mile engineering marvel!!

After a wonderful and informative sharing experience by Nez Perce tribal members this morning, our TRIPS group has boarded the American Harmony to begin our 7 night cruise of the Columbia River! It was a great day on the Snake River and a trip through Hell’s Canyon! An amazing, informative jet boat ride through the deepest river canyon in North America!! In fact, 2 thousand feet deeper than the Grand Canyon! Incredible petroglyphs and a very remarkable trail that was used long ago for the Nes Perce tribe to get to their salmon fishing grounds! Plus a LOT of wildlife with bighorn sheep and deer coming to the river to drink. Our day in Normandy reminds us all of the incredible sacrifices made by men and women around the world. The Battle of Normandy was instrumental in the Allied defeat of N**i Germany and the liberation of Northern France and Europe. The grandfather of one of our group, Jere Gladden, received the Bronze Star for his heroic actions on Normandy Beach - a truly poignant moment for him to stand on that same sandy Beach 80 years later. It was a day that will be stay with us for years to come.

Brugges, Belgium! A beautiful town where the misnomered “French” fry was invented, the only place in the world with a 2 kilometer long beer pipeline and of course chocolate!

Dublin! Don’t miss it - along with the rest of wonderful Ireland! Springtime in Ireland in March includes all the in depth experiences we just touched on! It was a great day!! Irish song, dance and a Guinness!

It was a fantastic day in Belfast, Northern Ireland! From the Titanic Museum to the stop at Queens University of Belfast we thoroughly enjoyed our day! Our guide Rory, a true Irishman shared stories of not just the history of this beautiful country - but shared poignant stories of his life growing up during “The Troubles”…surviving a bombing by the IRA at the age of 6. We had a chance to sign the Peace Wall and have pint at The Crown Bar dating to 1826!

After our unexpected sea day yesterday, we docked in Inverness today and had a wonderful day! Castles, whiskey tasting and shopping!!! No luck with spotting Nessie, so we’ll be back!

We’re on our second sea day today - our Edinburgh stop was canceled due to pretty rough seas. So we’re looking forward to continuing to enjoy all that the Norwegian Dawn offers. There’s been shopping - I saw a pretty impressive sapphire bracelet adorning the wrist of one of our folks who clearly has great taste! Others totaled chilled in the Thermal Spa with massages. And then - the Casino - no one has hit the jackpot just yet! Tomorrow we’ll be in Inverness and are looking forward to a ‘Nessie’ sighting!!

We’ve crossed the pond and are excited to start our British Isles Cruise! But first a quick glimpse of London. We were thwarted in our hopes to see some of the sites - the Emperor of Japan and his wife were in town and were being appropriately feted by the Royal family. But that didn’t stop us from enjoying great weather and iconic photo ops!

Yesterday our group checked into our Roman hotel for a 3 night stay then headed off to the coliseum for a visit! Today, TRIPS offered optional included excursions to local markets, Underground Rome, the Borghese Gallery and Gardens and even a few seats on a Vespa with a sidecar! These choices of included excurions made their time in Rome even more special! This afternoon a look at some of Baroque Rome! Sadly tomorrow is the last day of this 9 night journey through Tuscany and Rome but much is still ahead with the Vatican and a farewell dinner in one of TRIPS favorite restaurants in Trastevere!
