Take in the sunset over Lake Michigan aboard Ugly Anne; cruising under the Mackinac Bridge while enjoying music along with alcoholic and N/A refreshments. (Approx. 1 hour) $29 All Ages. Tuesday sunset cruises only during peak season. Departs 45 minutes before sunset. All tours and charters will depart from Mackinaw City at the Straits Area Tour Company dock on Huron Avenue or Mackinac Island’s East Dock unless otherwise arranged. Opening night at the helm of Ugly anne II was a success. Great group of guests and a wonderful sunset. I didn’t even scratch the new paint off coming into the dock.

UPDATED: We were doing some research on our new boat, currently named Captain Paul II. If any of our local historians have any other info about her, or we are off on our dates etc. feel free to comment and let us know.
She was built by the Nolan shipbuilding Company in 1960 at Erie, PA. She was originally named the Laurie Gene. From 1963-1979 she was renamed the Treasure Islander under the JK Barnhill Company, Argosey Boatline Inc and Star Line Mackinac Island Ferry, running passengers to and from Mackinac Island. She then went to work over on Bois Blanc Island from 1979-1987 under the name Chee-Maun-Nes for Plaunt Transportation. In 1987 she was sold to Donald Nichols in South Haven and fished Lake Michigan until 2006. Capt Nichols did quite a bit of work on her including raising the pilot house. In 2006 she was sold to Captain Paul Gallas in the Detroit area doing cruises around the waterways in Detroit. She had a couple names throughout her career down south including Capt Nichols II in South Haven and Capt Paul II in Detroit. This spring she will be renamed the Ugly Anne II. We were so excited about getting this new boat and now that we know that we brought her home to the Straits of Mackinac we couldn’t be happier.

She will be missed by all of us as we consider her, and the rest of the parasailing family, part of our own. We will miss your Cheryl.
