Foam party at the pool yesterday afternoon! Entertainment staff is very engaging!
Review time: I just spent a week on the Norwegian Getaway sailing from Miami to Roatan Honduras, Harvest Caye Belize, Cozumel Mexico and Costa Maya Mexico. It was a terrific trip with friends and family!
Overall the ship was amazing. There were over 28 restaurant options and about as many bars to choose from. The first couple of days were a bit overwhelming but once you got acclimated to the layout it was fairly easy to get around. The food was amazing, I don't think I had one meal that wasn't great. The buffet on the pool deck was a bit crazy, but it was spring break. I do think the layout of the buffet could be done better to manage congestion during busy times. There were two bars outside on the Promenade, one on each side of the ship, so you could relax and enjoy a drink outside without having to be near the pool. A couple of the specialty restaurants also had tables on this deck so you could dine outside in the evening, weather permiting.
The ports are fairly standard. Roatan has some adventure tours and port shopping, Harvest Caye is more of a relaxing beach stay for those that don't want to go anywhere, or you can ferry to the mainland for tours. I visited the Nim Li Punit Mayan ruins along with a local spice farm, very interesting day. Costa Maya is another day of relaxing, either at the pool at the port, shopping or take a tour to the nearby Mayan ruins. Cozumel, a favorite of mine, plenty of shopping, snorkeling or beach relaxing. I arranged a jeep drive around the island for part of our group, big thanks the Marcos at Best Buy Tours Cozumel for a fantastic afternoon exploring the interior of the island and the amazing undeveloped east side of the island!
Overall I would recommend Norwegian and their "freestyle" cruising to anyone interested. They have plenty of ships to choose from for those that might like something on a smaller scale than the Getaway! Here are a few photos of the trip.
Anyone interested in wine country? A few years back we spent a few days in Napa Valley and enjoyed some terrific wines and beautiful scenery. I would recommend a trip to Napa to anyone that loves to try good wine.
A couple of my favorites: Silver Oak, Frog's Leap and Robert Keenan.
Here we go again, it's snowing! Who is in the mood for sunshine and sand? I'm here to book the trip!!
Take a look at the Riu Palace Peninsula Cancun. I stayed here about 5 years ago and had a terrific time. It's walking distance to everything Cancun has to offer!!
El Dorado Casitas Royale, Riviera Maya, Mexico. This is an amazing adults only resort only 20 minutes south of the Cancun airport. Definitely consider it for your next getaway!
Take a look at some photos of the Iberostar Grand Bavaro in Punta Cana, Dominica Republic. This is a terrific adults only resort on Bavaro Beach that has everything you can imagine. For families you can look at the attached resorts: Iberostar Bavaro, Iberostar Punta Cana or Iberostar Dominicana.
It's January and it's freezing outside. Clients just left with documents for their upcoming trip to Hawaii and they will be there over Super Bowl weekend. It reminds me of the last time the Packers went to the Super Bowl, 2011. I was sitting at the Westin Ka'anapali Ocean Villas in Maui watching that game on tv. What I wouldn't give to be there now!!
Happy New Year everyone! I hope all had safe and fun celebrations! Look forward to 2017 with enthusiasm for family and friends and creating memories together. What better way to do that than on vacation!!
Two years ago I went to Barcelo Maya Tropical with friends. This resort has so much to offer for everyone. Great kids program and activities for little ones, plenty of resort activity for older kids and adults, wide expanse of pool area and of course, fantastic beach. Just 90 minutes south of the Cancun airport this resort has everything you would need.
