Today marks not only the eve of my birthday but also the passing of my Father four years ago. It was bittersweet as he was no longer suffering but he was gone from my everyday life. Thankfully I have frequent red cardinal visits which fill my heart and soul and put a smile on my face. It is quite unreal. I’ve also enjoyed ladybug visitations over the years as well; my Mother.

Small business is typically run on heart and soul and passion and have interesting stories behind them that truly drive the motivation, inspiration and dedication. Well that would be me and my story. Dedicated to and honoring both my parents now.

Onwards and upwards helping folks while improving myself along the way. ❤️🌼🐞🕊️🙏💝

Todays bike tour guests from Houston, Texas experienced Nature up close and personal and were so excited about it and thought it was sensational. The island is very quiet now with the exception of the local creatures. We saw more animals than people, and that’s not a bad thing and good for the soul to become one with Nature. That’s a big part of our guided tours; taking time to “smell the roses” and hear the animal noises and see how they behave. 🚴‍♀️🌸🐬

Todays bike tour was fabulous with guests from Arizona as we saw all of the land and sea creatures up close and personal. Nature galore! The island was so quiet and peaceful. We loved seeing the dolphin and manatee pair swim playfully right on by us. Great fun for all. 😊🚴‍♀️🐬

Todays Marco Island guided bike tour was fabulous again filled with all kinds of beautiful, cute and fuzzy Nature. We saw the most darling tiny baby owl and baby tortoise and lots of manatee, a big iguana, a variety of birds and pretty blooming tropical flora, not to mention there are just so many new homes. It was very quiet out on the route and we had the place to ourselves. We collected some ripe mangoes too which is always fun to do this time of year. 😋 My guests from Kansas were very friendly and interested which made for a very nice tour this morning in pleasant weather. And at the end of the tour again in the parking lot, a red cardinal was there to greet me singing happily and then took off. Allez. 🕊️☺️🚴‍♀️🚴🏻🌺🌴☀️

(On a sad note, we found this adult owl dead face down eyes open. Yesterday he was fine and sitting on his perch. The only thing I can think of is he ate some rat poison and that did him in. 😢🦉)

It started out a bit cloudy and overcast this morning which was very pleasant, but eventually the sun came out but the breeze stayed with us, so all good! My guests from Ohio had a grand tour and really enjoyed the two-wheel experience. They were just terrific folks and nice and engaged. We saw so much Nature, all of the usual suspects/creatures and in multiples, and up close and personal too. The tropical flora is just wonderful this time of year as well. And at the very end of the tour a red cardinal showed up singing happily and loudly! 🥰 It’s always a fun-filled bike adventure. 😊🚴‍♀️🚴🏻

Four days a year the Everglades National Park has free admission. I take advantage of this opportunity and love to go and enjoy the peaceful and tranquil setting. It’s a bit of a drive to get there, but it’s well with it. I think the drive alone is part of the overall fun and adventure and journey.

For some reason despite the free admission yesterday, I just about had the entire place to myself. The park has its own beauty and serenity, and if you’re a Nature lover and enjoy a tad of adventure and excitement, this is definitely for you.

With every stroke of the pedal you will see, hear, feel and sense being in an authentic wilderness. It’s a wonderful “escape”, but also demands ones full attention as there could be an alligator on the path that you will want to avoid.

This loop will allow you to get a satisfying workout and ride plenty of miles. I like to go on my road bike so I can ride by the alligators extra fast. 🐊😳🤣

I’ve taken many customers here for tours, but this time was a Susan Adventure solely for myself. It had just rained and the air was cool and pleasant, were comfortable temps, low humidity and a refreshing breeze; in other words it was delightful.

What to see; River of Grass, wetlands, marsh, glades, palms, mangroves, the vast blue sky with big floating cotton ball clouds contrasted with the hues of green, lily pads, gators, snakes, turtles, wood storks, roseate spoonbills, herons, egrets, anhingas, cormorants, Osprey, hawks, crows, butterflies, dragon flies, fish and lots of sunshine!

At times I felt like I should have seen large animals like lions, giraffes and jaguars running about as to me it resembles the African safari-an landscape. Perhaps it’s just my imagination, but I have always had that feeling when I drove 41/Tamiami Trail across the state and looked out at the vast wild panoramic views. But of course we do have bears, panthers, wild boar, bobcats, deer, armadillo, crocs, pythons, etc. so we are Wild Kingdom down here. We’re not just beaches, palm trees and coconuts. 😉

Anyhow, a slice of life here in SWFL. Reach out if you want to experience and I’ll be your guide. Get in touch with Nature and perhaps a little more on the “wild side”, pun intended. It’s always a fun-filled Susan Adventure! 😊🚴‍♀️🚴🏻

(At the very end of my ride while trying to get back to my car before the Park closed at 6 pm, a red cardinal in the mangroves made it presence and chirped very loud non-stop until I took notice. That was so surprising as I don’t think I have ever experienced seeing them in this venue before so that was extra special. No ladybug sightings but the red cardinal was more than expected. ☺️🕊️)

Todays tour with guests from Illinois was full of beautiful nature complimented with a pleasant Gulf breeze and temps in the 70’s with low humidity, thank goodness. The big rain yesterday broke up the humidity. We saw lots of manatee mating, cute baby owls with their fuzzy bellies and wobbly legs and tortoises basking in the sun as usual. The flora is beaming and their fragrances strong as you ride by. Spring is the best time to enjoy our tour if you ask me. 🚴‍♀️🚴🏻🌺

It was an exciting Nature-filled guided bike tour of Marco Island today with guests from Iowa. We saw mating manatee, playful dolphin, scowling owls, iguana sunning themselves, plenty of Osprey pairs with their babies, tortoises eating grass and basking in the sun, and unfortunately an injured pelican with a bum foot to name some of the creatures we saw up close and personal. And the tropical flora is in full bloom and so beautiful right now. Spring is definitely the most vibrant and best time of year to enjoy our tour! 🚴‍♀️🏝️🐬🌸💫

Enjoyed doing a private custom guided bike tour today for a new local showing her around and getting her familiarized with the area. It’s Spring Break and despite still not being able to go in the Gulf due to Hurricane Ian, there are plenty of people enjoying the beach. It’s hot, humid, sunny, and the tropical flora is blooming and colorful. We are recovering from the devastation and will be for some time, but it’s still enjoyable just on a different level. 😊🚴‍♀️🌊☀️🌴

Note, there are folks in the water but it is posted and signage advising not to do so.

Gulf life and the tropics is wonderful most of the time, but in the winter on occasion when the cold fronts blow in, things can be tricky with the wind. The birds love to glide around and others are trying to hang on while fishing as seen in this photo from my guided adventure bike tour of Marco Island. I had to reschedule my tennis sessions today though as the courts are positioned along the beachfront and it’s just way too windy. Oh well, it will blow over and away soon (pun intended). 🤣🎾💨
