After a beautiful but hot day the fine folks we had with us today had something very unusual happen. About a mile outside the canal there was a very loud boom.

The whole wheelhouse shook like you hit the port side with a sledge hammer. My first thought was the port outrigger had broken but had not. I opened the door and hollered what the heck was that?

Curtis and the customers were wide eyed to say the least. A 24lb king mackerel had jumped and smashed into the side of the wheelhouse about four inches under the window ricocheting off hitting the rail outside the door then hit the deck outside the wheelhouse door before impacting in the cockpit amongst everyone.

Thankfully none but the fish was harmed. We had given up on trying to catch one earlier.

The show will be shot off at 8:30pm CST and will be visible from any vantage point from our beautiful beach. This will be one spectacular display you’ll want to see.

Port St Joe- The Gulf County TDC and The City of Port St Joe will be bringing you a spectacular firework celebration at 10:00 PM ET on July 4th. You will be able to view the show from the Port St. Joe downtown area and George Core Park area.
