Happy Juneteenth!
Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a pivotal day in American history. Juneteenth marks the moment on June 19, 1865, when the last enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. This day stands as a testament to the enduring struggle for freedom and equality.
Juneteenth is more than a celebration; it is a time for reflection and recognition of the profound impact of African American history and culture on our nation. It reminds us of the importance of acknowledging the past, understanding the ongoing journey toward equality, and committing to a future where freedom and justice are truly for all.
Let us honor the resilience and contributions of African Americans and recommit to the principles of justice, equality, and unity. Together, we can build a more inclusive and understanding society. Happy Juneteenth to all!

Happy MLK Jr Day!
On this King Day holiday, we have some good news to share! Last week, we hosted a group from the U.S., UK and Australia on our Gullah Geechee Cultural Heritage Tour, from Charleston to Savannah. We took the group to Penn Center on St. Helena Island where they visited a secluded home built for Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. back in a wooded area alongside a river where he could escape for solitude. Dr. King visited St. Helena Island often for meetings and to work on some of his famous speeches. Unfortunately, Dr. King was assassinated right after the house was built and he never had a chance to live in it. The home still stands and you can visit it on our tour! There are so many little known and unknown stories of Black history and culture that most folks don’t know about. That’s why we’re sharing these authentic, transformative stories through our Black Cultural Heritage Tours Collection. Here are some highlights from our Gullah Geechee tour!
