A word on shopping small:
I came across this very sad ‘felted’ elf while out shopping today. He told me he was somehow mass produced in China, made of questionable materials, stuffed with some weird kind of foam? and barely worked on before shipping on a long fuel-filled journey overseas to be sold at door-buster prices.
I told him I was so, so sorry and had he been made by me, he would have been well thought out down to the last detail. I would have used wool that I purchased right here in Wisconsin, from someone whom I’ve actually met and seen how they care for their sheep. There would be no weird foam. Instead, he would be filled with love and care and worked on until he was an elf to be proud of. And most certainly, his eyes would not be falling out!
There are lots of handmade artists/makers/crafters around you who care just as much. We usually can’t be found in the big stores and certainly can’t compete with door-buster prices, but we’re just a craft fair, Etsy shop, or email away...

Don’t be a sad elf. Shop small 😊
