Dia de Mu***os (Day of the Dead) is a Mexican holiday lasting 2 days, November 1st and 2nd, where Mexicans honor their deceased loved ones by creating altars (ofrendas) to welcome their spirits. The veil between the spiritual world and the physical world is said to be very thin at this time. Ofrendas are decorated, sometimes quite elaborately, using flowers, candles, photos of the deceased, food and drink and special items that their loved ones enjoyed during life. Spending time around the ofrenda keeps their spirits alive, and is a true celebration of the loved ones who have passed.

Did you know? Cats are among the most iconic animals in ancient Egyptian art and culture. Ancient Egyptians brought cats into their homes to help control vermin and kill poisonous snakes. They also believed they would bring good luck to those who housed them. Cats were highly respected by Pharaohs and used as religious symbols for grace, poise, wisdom, strength, and fertility. They are part of the anatomy of several ancient goddesses, including the goddesses Bastet and Sekhmet.
