On an extended assignment and staying in a hotel, a couple quick tips to make your stay more enjoyable!

-Always go to breakfast
You’re away for work, you need to be on good form and make the most of your time there. Make breakfast part of your daily routine.

-Take good ear plugs
Sleep is vital. Drowning out new and foreign noises the first few night especially is crucial to long term comfort.

-Get to know the area
Grab a bottle of water and go for a stroll. It’ll help you get used to a time change and new surroundings.

-Find a local super market
Grab some of your favorite snacks and drinks. Sometimes you might sleep in and miss hotel breakfast, so have alternative quick options on hand.

-Aim to stay healthy
It’s so easy to eat out for every meal, drink a lot of alcohol and pile on the pounds when staying away from home. Use the fitness facilities or pool to get 30 minutes of light exercise per day. It will make the difference if you're away a lot.

-Make your own personal touches
You’ve got to feel comfortable staying in a hotel for a week or longer. Take a few bags of my favorite tea from home. Pack a favorite robe or light blanket, or a candle of your favorite scent.

You can’t recreate your home, but you can make your stay enjoyable.

Online Booking vs. Corporate Travel Management Company; Which Should I use?

Posted by Natalee Nimmo

In business, technology is everything. Most recently a fast food chain announced that they will be transitioning to self-serve kiosks in the near future. Didn’t think that customer service would be replaced by machines, at least not in my lifetime!
Technology is a wonderful and ever-changing or evolving thing, and that is also very true for the travel industry. Advances in travel tech have made it possible for many companies to see perpetual growth in their corporate travel programs.
“From the most cutting-edge quality control coding to highly developed travel analytic capabilities, the technology that can be provided to a business, continues to mature with each passing year. And of course, anyone that has ever been interested in travel – whether leisure or corporate – knows the ease and accessibility of online booking.
In effect, most managed travel programs these days incorporate online booking tools. All of the aforementioned technological advances equal cost-savings for businesses, but like fast food chains, most reliable and quality business travel agencies still have actual employees to assist you as needed.”
So, when should a business know when they should to book their travel online and when they should speak to a travel management company?
“When to use an online booking tool (OBT):”
“Online booking tools provided by a travel management company continue to be the preferred method for most business travelers due to the ease and convenience of the user-friendly software. Travelers are able to make their ideal travel arrangements with a click of a few buttons while remaining in compliance with their company travel policies.” OBTs are best suited for simple travel plans and short term stays (6 nights & under).
When to use a Travel Management Company:
“An experienced corporate travel manager will be much more efficient at booking complex itineraries, such as those that include multi-segment and/or multinational travel.” However, some senior & executive levels, “just prefer to speak to an actual person, agent booking is a must-have service for your travel program.”
“Don’t forget: It’s OKAY to have a travel program customized to your travelers’ needs.”
“Your business travel solution doesn’t have to be ‘one size fits all.’ Customization is key when it comes to finding a managed travel solution that best suits your travel needs. The key is incorporating customization to your standards and goals while delivering policy-compliant, cost-effective travel.”
Lodging Source can help your company reevaluate your managed hotel needs and expenses. We can assist in developing a solution to fit your company’s needs and budget. Have questions about how to take your current corporate hotel program to the next level and which of our travel solutions are the right fit for your company?
