** COVID-19 / CORONAVIRUS TIPS AND INFO REGARDING TRAVEL **
- There is a lot of misinformation circulating around social media regarding closures, bans, restrictions, and severity as it relates to travel plans. Please consult your APT agent (or supplier directly if you did not book with us) for the true picture of your current or future travel booking(s).
- Each airline, hotel, cruise line, and wholesaler or tour operator has in place their own cancel or rebook possibilities and not all bookings have the same options depending on the exact destination, dates of travel, and other terms of the booking. The same is not true for everyone or every booking! Please consult your APT agent (or supplier directly if you did not book with us) for the true picture of your current or future travel booking(s).
- In most cases, if your travel destination or dates are disrupted, you can expect to be able to re-book for future dates with change fees waived. In many cases there are added perks being offered by the suppliers. In a few cases there is the option of refund. Please consult your APT agent (or supplier directly if you did not book with us) for the true picture of your current or future travel booking(s).
- If you booked on your own directly with a hotel or airline, you must work with them directly for any information, re-booking, or resolution. Be prepared for very long phone hold times. In the future, be sure to use an experienced, local travel agent that will be there for you in times of emergency.
- If you booked with an OTA (i.e. Expedia, HotelBeds, Hotels.com, etc), you must contact them directly for information about your booking. All suppliers will be subject to the individual hotel company's terms and guidlines. In most cases hotels will not allow you to cancel directly with them and will refer you back to the company you booked with. Check your email to see if you have received direct communication from them. In the future, be sure to use an experienced, local travel agent that will be there for you in times of emergency.
- If your travel is May 1 and beyond, in most cases you are still considered good to go. There are some suppliers with waivers out until end of May. Please consult your APT agent (or supplier directly if you did not book with us) for the true picture of your future travel.
- Travel insurance is always available for any trip that you book. Not all policies are created equal! Be sure to read the policy info for any exclusions that would prevent coverage for you. We always recommend buying a policy with "cancel for any reason" protection if available. Please consult your APT agent regarding the insurance coverage you may or may not have on current or future travel.
