The boardwalk was upgraded with concrete in 1940s. It was destroyed by Hurricane Hazel in 1954. All that r
emained was a concrete walkway between 9th Avenue North and 11th Avenue North, later renamed Mr. Joe White Avenue. When the Pavilion closed in 2006 after 58 years, area merchants wanted an attraction to replace it. A 1.2 mile-long boardwalk replaced it with an estimated cost of $10 million. Myrtle Beach Boardwalk is home to festivals and events, including Ocean Boulevard’s Hot Summer Nights located at Plyler Park in downtown Myrtle Beach. The boardwalk is always a family favorite, with oceanfront views of the pristine beach line, numerous shops and restaurants. Myrtle Beach has great restaurants on every corner from fast food to 5 star dining. Our ocean front corner unit condo is located in the South Hampton on the 11th floor and has breathtaking ocean views from every room. The unit was updated in November of 2015. We updated the living area with all new furniture, new Cortex Flooring, a 49″ flat screen TV, Blu Ray DVD player, new end and coffee tables and lamps. With our November 2015 renovation both bathrooms were updated. We bought all new bedding for both bedrooms, new flooring and there is a new tub/shower combo with wall tiles, double sink vanity in master and single sink in bathroom two with new toilets, fixtures, shower curtains and lighting. Myrtle Beach offers something for everyone and that’s why it is voted in the top ten for family vacation destinations.
