Getting Ready to Repower ➡️ Getting it DONE ✅

The 24’ McKee Craft is nearly finished! The dashboard has been rewired and installed in conjunction with the new 300 horsepower Yamaha engine 🛥 Where there was once three holes in the dash, there is now a new Garmin navigation screen to match the rest of the dash setup— and we’re in the process of completing the required BPS screen before we’re ready to go 👏 Launch time is coming soon!

Fort Rachel Marina is proud to work with Williams College’s Mystic campus, servicing the Williams-Mystic Research Vessel! The boat undergoes routine maintenance, launches, and sometimes even docks at Fort Rachel.

Pictured is the vessel docked at Fort Rachel this spring, and then in use by Fall 2023 students Jonny Sonnenfeld (Wesleyan University) and Freeman McCleary (College of the Atlantic) at Mystic Seaport Shipyard. The boys researched survival and growth rates of oysters, mussels, and clams at various locations in the Mystic River— knowledge that is of great importance to our local ecosystem. Fort Rachel is honored to have a small hand in the impactful work that these students complete every semester!

A new dash is nice to look at, but it’s even better when accompanied by a new engine! We’ll be adding a 300 horsepower Yamaha to the back of this 24’ McKee to complete the repower project. Stay tuned for the results!

Check out this recently finished repower ⤵️

Our mechanics re-wired this system to sync every function on the dash to the Garmin touch screen. You can see the Yamaha CL5 engine gauge appearing on the Garmin— the Fusion stereo is also connected 🎶

Swipe to see the new gearshift, that lights up different colors depending on direction 🚨

All of this ties into the control system of the two brand-new Yamaha 300 horsepower engines!

Lots of new toys and features on this boat for this season 👏

Weight loss program for your boat. Removed an older Mercury 75, 2 stroke and installed a new Yamaha 70, 4 stroke and the boat magically lost 50 lbs. Seatrial this Friday.
