Lots of MRBIII excitement this week...an ice machine leak shorted out the power in half the building, requiring the use of many, many extension cords, and then a pipe burst on the 10th floor and it started to rain through the ceiling during seminar. Science is never dull!

Found this at the Country Living Fair a couple of weeks ago. World's Largest Buchner Funnel!! Probably a steal at $115. Do they even make filter paper that large? Plus it was SUPER heavy so I don't what glassware you could even use with it. 😄

It occurs to me that I haven't updated everyone about the lab in quite awhile! :)

We got the score from our P01 resubmission...11!...and since the funding line last year was 13, we're optimistic about funding. The NSF grant ended at the end of June after approximately 35 years of continuous funding, so we're an all-amyloid lab now. Abeta fans, I'm working my way through purifying all 12 of the mutants we described in our grant and hope to have samples of each one for a run early next year. We plan to be here for at least the next couple of years, as GS ramps down to full retirement.
