Go to Jail! Go Directly to Jail Gates that is!

New Hope Borough Parks & Recreation has brought back a vital piece of history to town! Visitors and locals alike will love the latest installation in the New Hope Visitor Center courtyard - the historic jail gates from the town's first jail dating back to 1839. At that time, the building that currently houses the Visitor Center served as both the town hall and as the town jail. Oh, if those walls could talk!

The Park and Recreation Board dusted off the gates and had them erected for all to enjoy.

Be sure to stop by and see this unique piece of New Hope history that includes the original padlocks and plaque.

Post your pictures on Instagram or on the New Hope Park and Recreation page. Be creative!

The New Hope Borough Visitor Center will be open on Monday, September 2, 2024 from Noon to 6PM.

PSA-News regarding the BRIDGE REHABILITATION PROJECT

Three-Hour Overnight Closure of New Hope & Lambertville Bridge
Scheduled for 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. Friday

Uninterrupted Shutdown to Affect Pedestrians and Motorists;
Travel Restriction Needed for Temporary Construction Crane Operations

NEW HOPE, PA – The New Hope-Lambertville Toll-Supported Bridge’s road deck and temporary walkway are scheduled to be shut down for three early-morning hours this Friday, Aug. 16.

The uninterrupted full bridge closure is expected to begin at 2 a.m. and end at 5 a.m. and will prevent crossings of motor vehicles and pedestrians. Affected motorists and pedestrians are advised to plan ahead and use alternate routes and means to cross the river while the uninterrupted three-hour-long bridge closure is in effect.

The closure will allow for set-up, operation, and take down of a temporary construction crane that will be used to install replacement walkway panels and a temporary gantry to further facilitate the walkway installation process from now through September.

Preparations for the overnight construction operation and bridge closure will begin Thursday evening. Favorable weather is anticipated, so the expectation is the bridge should be reopened for drivers (Pennsylvania-bound only) and pedestrians in time for Friday’s morning commuting hours.

We have loved having our wonderful docents this summer sharing the history of the Parry family and New Hope with all of our visitors! Sadly, they will be going back to school in a few weeks- so we are looking for a few more passionate people to add to our seasonal
docent family at the Parry Mansion Museum.
These are paid positions and parking reimbursements are available.
If you are interested, please contact Executive Director, Kate Knowles Brindle at [email protected].

Arbor Day Celebration at Parry Mansion

Join the New Hope Historical Society and the New Hope Shade Tree Commission in celebrating Arbor Day 2022!

The Shade Tree Commission and Hugh Marshall Landscaping have generously donated their time and services to the Historical Society, assisting with the planting of four new trees on the grounds of the Parry Mansion.

These trees, selected by A Garden in Thyme historical gardening services, replace others lost in recent years to storms, age, and other damages, and are a vital part of maintaining the ecosystem of the Aquetong Creek which runs through the Mansion's grounds.

Join us on Friday, April 22 from 1-3pm for botanical lectures, face painting, food and drinks. The event is free to the public and kid-friendly.

Event Details:

1-3pm
