This was one of my favorite books in my elementary school library. I've been trying to find it for years. It's out of print. I finally found Peter Cross's website. I remember being obsessed with the round Trumpet creatures. I believe my adoration of them is why I paint chunky animals now....and perhaps where my Winston character came from... subconscious inspirations.
