Adam Nelson Honored with 2024 Hermes Creative "Career Achievement" Award

Celebrating a Quarter Century of Creativity: Workhouse Founder Honored for 25 Years of Industry Excellence

Hermes Creative Awards, globally recognized for excellence in marketing and communications, has honored Adam Nelson, Founder & CEO of Workhouse, with the prestigious 2024 Career Achievement Award. This esteemed accolade acknowledges Workhouse's 25-year anniversary and his indelible impact on the marketing and communications industry. Nelson dedicated the award to his childhood hero, Evel Knievel, whose audacious spirit has been a significant influence on his professional approach.

"In the turbulent arena of human bravado, where men court danger with the fervor of poets, there strode Evel Knievel, a maverick draped in leather and legend. With each leap, he unleashed a tempest of rebellion that echoed across the vast expanse of the American dream," said Nelson. "Knievel enraptured us with adrenaline and awe, drawing a global mass with each a tantalizing test. His boldness resonated with me at a young age, shaping my understanding of risk and reward in business. Each jump, a thunderous proclamation of defiance, each crash a tumultuous crescendo of chaos and catharsis. From the forgotten byways of Middle America to the glittering stages of the Strip, his flair for the dramatic and ability to capture the imagination of millions is something I've aspired to emulate in the mad marketing campaigns Workhouse creates,” Nelson expressed.

The Hermes Creative Awards, governed by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals (AMCP), is an international competition recognizing outstanding work in the industry. The awards celebrate the creative prowess of professionals involved in the concept, writing, and design of traditional and emerging media. This year, over 6,500 entries were judged, representing numerous countries and demonstrating the global reach and influence of the awards. A list of Platinum and Gold Winners can be found on the Hermes Creative Awards website at hermesawards.com.

“He’s talking a little bit out of his ass there and he’s wrong, because they’re real fans,” “Sopranos” star Steve Schirripa told The Post.

“I don’t know who he’s talking about. The guys in the front row, they care. Tracy Morgan, a huge fan. Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, myself, Matthew Modine, John McEnroe, Fat Joe, all fans. They probably know more about basketball than him, believe it or not.”

Philadelphia 76ers’ forward Kelly Oubre Jr. took a shot at Madison Square Garden’s famed Celebrity Row — and the bold-faced names are firing back.

TheHomeMag’s Digital Leap: Pioneering the Future of Home Improvement

A Legacy of Print and the Digital Dawn: Embracing Innovation to Challenge Industry Giants

In the world of home improvement, one name is becoming increasingly synonymous with innovation and customer-focused service: TheHomeMag. This company began over two decades ago as a traditional print publication and has recently catapulted itself into the digital realm, aiming to position itself as a formidable contender against larger, more established players like Angi.

The transformation of TheHomeMag from print to digital is not just a business evolution; it’s a strategic recalibration aimed at leveraging cutting-edge technology to enhance user experience and expand market reach. This shift is akin to the biblical story of David and Goliath, where sheer determination and innovative tactics enabled a smaller entity to succeed against a much larger adversary.

Entertainment Monthly News:
On the Horizon: Brady Bryson’s ‘The Gentlemen of Princeton’

In an era thirsting for originality, Brady Bryson stands out as a filmmaker with a knack for marrying depth with entertainment. His latest offering, “The Gentlemen of Princeton,” currently in pre-production, follows the well-received “Sideways for Attention,” proving Bryson is a storyteller with a growing portfolio of intriguing work.

Bryson’s film ventures often mirror the complexities of real life, capturing the essence of human experiences without resorting to cinematic clichés. His stories are characterized by a realism that’s both relatable and thought-provoking. In “The Gentlemen of Princeton,” he continues this trend, crafting a narrative that dives into the murky waters of crime and choice, set against the unlikely backdrop of a prestigious university town.

What sets Bryson apart is his ability to navigate the fine line between addressing serious themes and maintaining an engaging storyline. His films don’t just serve as entertainment; they invite viewers to engage with the characters and their dilemmas, reflecting a slice of life that’s often overlooked in mainstream cinema.

As Bryson gears up for “The Gentlemen of Princeton,” it’s clear he’s not just making films; he’s telling stories that resonate. In a landscape often criticized for its lack of depth, Bryson’s work is a reminder that cinema can be both entertaining and meaningful.

FILMSCENE | OPINION: Arkansas-reared director releases ‘Hard Miles’

Opening in select theaters this weekend is "Hard Miles," a new feature film from Canadian-born, Arkansas-reared director R.J. Daniel Hanna. While the genre is admittedly a narrow one, it's probably the best cycling movie since the 1979 classic "Breaking Away."

Older cinephiles will know Matthew Modine as the idealistic military journalist in Stanley Kubrick's "Full Metal Jacket" or the high school wrestler in "Vision Quest" or maybe even from his recent role in "Oppenhimer." Here he does a great job here walking the tightrope between empathy and toxic masculinity. There are moments in the film, where I would think his character was pushing these kids way too hard, to the point where he might break them. This is a role that could have easily fallen into the tired and clichéd coach caricature, full of hammy pep talks and over the top cheerleading. Modine, though, is able to craft someone who feels human, full of flaws and moments of weakness, and sometimes abject apathy for the boys he's riding with. It's a performance that exudes depth and complexity, as Townsend grows and implements the lessons he's teaching the juveniles and implies them to himself.

Hard Miles Review: Modine’s Cycling Movie
Film opens this Friday, 19 April in movie theaters everywhere

Matthew Modine is entirely believable as Greg Townsend. This is a much different role than his breakout in Full Metal Jacket and or even his recent turn in Oppenheimer. He’s had a storied career with legendary roles, but as you watch him on screen, you don’t see the other characters from his history, only Greg Townsend. Modine’s skillful turn in the role is amplified by his genuine cycling passion, helping to blur the lines between actor and character. As a character, he is fully responsible for the lives of the young men on this journey, and as an actor, he embodies the character with persuasive reality. There is a vulnerability to his portrayal as well. Just like the young men from Ridge View need this trip, Townsend needs the trip to deal with everything with his father.

NBC NEWS: The Kids Boxing Program Making Champions Out of Underdogs

The New Jersey Give a Kid a Dream is giving children the tools to be successful in the ring and in life.

Through Olympic-style boxing, the Give a Kid a Dream program has helped more than 400 children from underserved communities find discipline, drive and vision — free of charge.

Since 2012, Coach Jackie Atkins has made it her mission to teach kids not only how to be champions in the ring, but also champions in life.

“The words that we use — elevate, educate, empower, embrace — that’s a tremendous, positive impact to have on anyone’s life, to be able to elevate them and take them from where they are to a place of greatness,” Atkins said.

Kids at the gym learn fitness and boxing training, get homework assistance and have access to social workers and therapists. While some students come in with poor school attendance and a lack of focus, the program currently has a 100% high school graduation rate.

“They’re all champions and we treat them all the same,” Atkins said. “Whether you go to the nationals and you make it to the Olympic qualifier, you’re just as important as the child that never stepped foot in that ring.”

Hard Miles // Review // Film Threat

“The cinematography is fantastic, capturing the rush of freedom a bike can offer. The score is also a great addition. The cast is solid, and the story is a sweet, engaging affair. Standout moments include the team’s first successful ride in the proper timeframe, the heartwarming interactions between the troubled youth and their mentors, and the breathtaking scenery along the to the Grand Canyon.”

HARD MILES: A TERRIFIC MATTHEW MODINE IS COUNSELOR TURNED CYCLING COACH IN REDEMPTION ROAD MOVIE

A picture that believes in the better angels of collective humanity at an American moment increasingly defined by our differences.

“As the outwardly fearless leader, Matthew Modine, the four-decade star of an indelible 80s career canon including Vision Quest, Birdy and Full Metal Jacket, has always been an actor with the lightest of touch when it comes to humor and pathos, and here gives 2024’s to-date best male performance. As Townsend’s hard-driving persona“ gives way to final act humility and self-awareness, Modine infuses the character with appealing, open-hearted kindness.”

In the new drama Hard Miles, Matthew Modine gets his best role in years as a transformative youth counselor guiding a cohort of troubled young men on an audacious 762-mile bicycle trek from Watkins, Colorado to the Grand Canyon—a journey designed to promote healing and life skills in at-risk youth...

Workhouse was proud to place this Opinion Editorial entitled "https://www.the-influential.com/2024/04/navigating-worry-to-find-wonder-journey.html" by former National Geographic Editor-in-Chief Chris Johns in The Influential's latest issue.

"There is a place I go when I am overwhelmed by worry. I often go solo, but today, on the eve of winter, I follow the howl of coyotes and climb the hill behind our home with my grandson, Freeman, bundled in a backpack for kids. We enter the tawny hills of Missoula, Montana’s Northern Conservation Lands. The parched landscape looks like an abstract watercolor painting viewed through orange gauze. Wildfire smoke is rolling in and casts an eerie glow that obscures Stuart Peak and the Rattlesnake Wilderness Area before us. The air smells like a wet-wood campfire."
