Yes, it is a generational thing.
These days, travel agents advise on multiple aspects of a trip to create a travel experience. Their role can include:
Regional tours and experiences
Developing a custom itinerary
Handling emergencies and changes

To reflect the expansions on a travel agent’s role. Simply put we BUY travel for customers! To think there is some other way of saying this most new agents are missing the point!

It is not any FEE structure We get paid by travel tour operators and cruises.

Pros of using a travel agent
Still not sure whether a travel agent would be worth the cost? Some additional advantages of using a travel agent as opposed to planning your trip yourself include:

Do you earn rewards on travel booked by an agent?
You might be hard-pressed to find a travel advisor where you earn rewards by booking through them. Ours is pretty simple $50 or more depending on what type of travel is booked. I like to say $50 is worth how many points with your credit card . This can be analyzed as a comparison. Some of us are so confused by all the point programs out there they forget the value of the $$ If you decide to use a credit card you still receive all points and get Frequent flyer miles.
Keep in mind:
YOUR hearing this from me. Airline business is our tool. No more no less they are the necessary tool to getting you around the world. Any one who thinks its about the Friendly skies is just not paying attention. Note seating on airplanes , service on airlines and of course the bag fees added extra so the airlines do not have to pay higher taxes on those bag fees. It is hard to explain to everyone that the airlines are a business , very big business and if you think they care about 200 seats on a certain flight and why they have 100 different rate categories on that same flight you are mistaken To them its JUST Business!
