Smiled receiving these pics today! Have a couple on a Norwegian Fjords/Lofoten Islands cruise on a yacht and they are loving the views. She said the fjords are breathtaking and this is exactly what she wanted to see! She told her husband that she could sit in the middle of the fjord for days and be happy! 😀 Looks like they saw a rainbow!

I did an educational trip with Belmond Safaris at the Belmond Savute Elephant Lodge (12 rooms) in Chobe National Park and Belmond Eagle Island Lodge (12 rooms) in the Okavango Delta in Botswana. I had an amazing experience at both of them- the service, the warm friendly staff, the food, the accommodation were top notch. The staff greeted us singing at each lodge and the evening before we left they serenaded us with their beautiful voices. At Elephant Savute lodge I enjoyed watching the elephants pass by from my patio and drinking water while at the pool. At Eagle Island lodge, it was a luxury to have my own plunge pool where I watched elephants, impalas, baboons walk and or run by and zebras in the distance. In the Okavango Delta, we saw the start of the water of the Delta which was exciting. Afterwards, Belmond surprised us with a helicopter ride over the Delta. It was neat to see the Delta from two different vantage points that day.

Africa has a piece of my heart. There is truly no other place like it. Seeing animals in their own natural habitat, the landscapes, the sunsets, all the shining stars at night, and the warm people make for a magical place. After having been to several countries in Africa, I still keep wanting to go back. There is something about this unique place that does that to you.

Happy Friday!

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel from my lovely strolls through the garden to breakfast, a delicious dinner at Red Door, a delightful afternoon tea experience with a tea sommelier with nice ambiance, baths in a deep soaking tub, piano player in the lounge, to a tasty Caesar salad at the Planet Bar!

I stayed here during the We Are Africa show. It is a Virtuoso hotel in Cape Town on 9 acres, about a 10-minute drive to the V&A waterfront with nearby local restaurants and shops. They have an enormous spa if you want some relaxation and rejuvenation time. For foodies, they have a Chef’s Table experience in their kitchen. I was so impressed with all of their special touches daily in the room. One day I came back to an awesome surprise, a framed a picture of us on safari in Botswana which is now in my office and I will be sure to use my special monogrammed cotton bag made with the same cotton Nelson Mandela used to wear. Belmond is truly a 5-star experience! Thank you, Belmond, for a wonderful stay!

I have clients right now having a blast flying around Africa on a private jet with National Geographic to 8 countries and one island.

I was so excited to see these pictures they sent. They had fun hanging out with the lemurs in Madagascar the other day and today in Botswana they got this close to this lion!!!

I was blown away at The Silo Hotel in Cape Town! It is a 28 room family run Virtuoso hotel with a rooftop bar that has panoramic views of Table Mountain and Table Bay harbour. It is part of the Royal Portfolio and I must say I truly felt like a queen during my stay here. The service is stellar, the views are incredible, the food is great and the decor and design are awe-inspiring! Even without requesting it, I was surprised to find a glass bottle labeled almond milk in the fridge for me (they had previously asked me dietary restrictions and I told them I don't drink milk). The bar and lounge was a great spot for drinks and dinner, breakfast came with a view as well as the bathtub in my room. They have an art gallery at the hotel and are connected to the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa. It is steps away from shops and restaurants in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront neighborhood.

The elusive leopard…we found him!

In Chobe, we heard there was a leopard roaming around, but didn’t find him. When we got to the Okavango Delta we saw this leopard.

The water is coming!!!

It was so cool! We got to witness the start of the water flow of the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Botswana. One of the popular things to do in this area is a Mokoro boat ride on the Delta viewing wildlife from the water.
The water flows from Angola to Namibia to Botswana. The locals were excited as this is a big deal, it felt special to be part of this moment. Usually there is more water in early May, but this year it was drier. Just in the short time we were there the water had grown so much.

We flew from Chobe National Park to the Okavango Delta in Botswana in a MackAir Cessna Caravan. It was about an hour flight, quick and easy. It is important to note, the smaller planes have weight restrictions with luggage. It is best to bring a duffel bag the size of a carry on. I used a Patagonia roller duffel bag which works well for this. Thank you Belmond Safaris for keeping my other suitcase for Cape Town at the Maun airport. We guide you with these requirements depending on where you are going in Africa and what planes you may be taking on your trip.

Belmond Eagle Island Lodge in the Okavango Delta was pure luxury! We were greeted with the staff singing, food was delicious and the service was great. Loved having a plunge pool to lounge in while watching the animals roam. It was so peaceful. I also loved having a vanity in the walk in closet!

It’s my third time back in Botswana, this time staying at Belmond Elephant Savute Lodge and what a treat it is! The last time I was in Botswana I did a safari on the water and saw many elephants as they have a large concentration of elephants here.
