Layering is integral to RUBY KOBO, creating a personal story that is unique to each. With a bohemian air and cutting edge sophistication that evolves from mixed media, Ruby Kobo offers a personal experience through layering unique bracelets, necklaces and rings. At the heart of the line is a juxtaposition between soft organics, such as silk or natural waxed linen, and the hard geometric lines of g
emstones. The designer Yuvi Alpert explores innovations in material, color and design, taking fine jewelry to a new level, one that references personal style as much as a global aesthetic. Yuvi originally started designing jewelry while in college at the University of Miami, where he majored in Finance and Marketing. After moving to New York in 2008 he began Ruby Kobo and the line quickly took off, launching at Bergdorf Goodman Mens. He was one of a select group of designers to join the first class of The Council on Fashion Design of America Fashion Incubator in 2010 and the following year was invited to launch the collection at BLUEPRINT, Asia’s only international fashion trade platform, helping open a dialogue for East-West exchange within the emerging-designer fashion community. More recently Ruby Kobo was sponsored by CIRCA to present at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in September 2011 and in February 2012 the designer showed during NYFW, accessorizing the Number LAB Fall/Winter 2012 collection. September 2012 the name of the company was changed to Ruby Kovo.
