Wednesday Morning Update:

The City is operating at OPCON 1 since 7pm Tuesday evening.

Our EOC continues to operate, staffed by our Fire and Police personnel.

Over the course of Tuesday, our weather stations located at our Firehouses have measured around 5" of rain (the majority came with the two heaviest bands of rain that impacted us late yesterday evening through dusk). Some spots around the City received close to 7" unofficially.

We anticipate additional bands of heavy rain later today and overnight.

Yesterday evening we saw Ocean Blvd impacted in the areas of 11th Ave N-18th Ave N & 11th Ave S. to 16th Ave S. Unfortunately some motorists attempted to pass through anyway resulting in our Fire, Police and Public Works crews having to address stranded motorists.

PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THROUGH FLOODED ROADS/STREETS. DO NOT PUT YOURSELF IN A POTIENTIAL DANGEROUS SITUATION.

Thankfully overnight we saw less rain and this allowed the majority of standing water to recede where it could.

We will be watching those areas impacted by tidal flooding throughout the day especially as we approach the high tide cycle later tonight.

Use caution while out and about today when breaks in the weather allow you to do so, for those who need to be out.

As we see gustier winds move into the area later today, please be mindful of loose items around homes/businesses.

Monitor weather updates throughout the day and please take the necessary precautions on your end that will minimize placing yourself in harm's way.

Tropical Storm Debby is making her way out of our area, and we are pleased to report that we have experienced no major damage at Windy Shores II. We will continue to experience a windy day today, along with periods of rain, but the height of the storm has passed.

If you are traveling to the resort within the next several days, please be aware that you may experience road closures due to flooding in the inland and outlying areas, as the rivers and waterways continue to rise. Research alternate routes before you leave, as GPS does not always pick up road closures.

We're looking forward to seeing the sunshine this weekend!

Sometimes we have to find a little humor when we're in the midst of these events :)

*** TROPICAL STORM DEBBY UPDATE ***
The storm is currently a Tropical Storm heading northeast across Georgia and the South Carolina lowcountry. The storm is projected to go offshore near Charleston later today, then come back on shore across the Grand Strand area late tomorrow/early Thursday.

There has been a Tropical Storm Warning issued for the entire coast of South Carolina, as well as a Tornado Watch. The Governor of South Carolina has issued a State of Emergency, however, there has been no evacuation order issued.

We are currently anticipating 10-15” of rain over the next 3-4 days and winds of 20-30 MPH, gusting up to 50-60 MPH at times.

If you are planning to check in today or tomorrow, please be advised that travel is not encouraged, and conditions will not be pleasant.
Local roads and streets in our area, very near to our resort are prone to flooding and may be impassable at times, making it impossible for you to access or depart our resort.

Our resort storm plan has been implemented and all preparations have been made to secure the resort. We are currently operating “as usual”.

Please understand that our staffing levels may be very limited over the next several days due to team member’s ability to travel to the resort from their homes, as most do not live at the beach. We kindly ask that you only call the resort if absolutely necessary this week.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we go through the next several days, and appreciate the good thoughts and prayers being sent our way.

Updates will continue to be posted here and on the resort website. Please monitor the local news stations, and the National Hurricane Center’s website for additional information and updated forecasts and projections.

This is always an awesome experience! Be sure you're on the beach around 1:00 to see this, and don't forget your patriotic attire and flags to wave!

Here's our flyover schedule for ! Each year, it is the wonderful support of active-duty military men and women who make SFTS possible. With each year, there’s always the possibility that aircraft and crew will be called to a higher mission and pulled away from this event at the last minute. That is the case this year for our largest participant and crowd pleaser, the Globemaster C-17 out of Charleston Joint Base. We thank the crew for their service, wish them good luck on their mission and hope to have them back again next year!

That said, SFTS is still ON with our friends in F-16s from the 169th Fighter Wing with McEntire JNGB and the Warbirds brigade of vintage military planes, delivering what promises to be a great day on the beach saluting our active and retired military personnel! Follow us along for any updates to the schedule. July 4th can't come soon enough! 😎 🏖️ 🇺🇸

***New City Ordinance***

On July 1st, a new ordinance pertaining to false alarms will come into effect to reduce the number of false alarm calls Police respond to during the year. The North Myrtle Beach False Alarm ordinance will apply to your business or residence in the event you have excessive false alarms. The North Myrtle Beach Police Department will always respond to alarm activations but find it necessary to reduce the number of responses to false alarms. We understand that accidents happen. However, we encourage and request that owners/operators of alarm systems familiarize themselves with their systems and how to cancel a false alarm. Limiting the number of false alarm responses will assist in keeping officers on patrol readily available for emergencies and for the deterrence of crime.

Three (3) false alarms occurring at one (1) location within a year, or violation of any other provision of this section, constitutes a civil offense/infraction fine of up to two hundred dollars ($200.00) as authorized in section 1-6, general penalty. Each additional false alarm within that year shall constitute a separate infraction. However, no alarm user shall be charged with accumulating more than one (1) false alarm in any twenty-four-(24) hour period. Unpaid fees may be collected in the same manner as any civil judgment.

🐾🏠 The 3/3/3 Rule for Newly Adopted Fur Babies! 🐾🏠

If you've recently brought home a new furry friend or are planning to do so, the 3/3/3 rule for adopted animals is an important guideline to keep in mind!

📅 3 Days to Compress: During the first three days, newly adopted pets can feel overwhelmed, scared, confused, and uncertain. Just imagine being in their paws, entering a whole new environment with unfamiliar faces and scents! It's crucial to provide them with a calm and quiet space where they can decompress, explore at their own pace, and begin to feel safe. Let's give them the time and patience they need to adjust.
📅 3 Weeks to Learn Your Routine: As we enter the three-week mark, our adorable companions will start to settle in and become more familiar with our daily routines. They'll begin to understand when it's mealtime, playtime, and cuddle time! 🍽️🎾🤗 This is when their unique personalities will start to shine through, and we can truly see the amazing bond forming between us and our new pets.
📅 3 Months to Feel at Home: After three months, our furry buddies should be feeling much more comfortable in their new home, as they've adapted to their surroundings and have grown attached to us. They've become an integral part of our lives, bringing us joy, love, and plenty of memorable moments. But remember, every pet adjusts differently, and some may take longer than three months to fully settle in. Patience and realistic expectations are key when welcoming a new pet into our family.
Let's remember that each pet has its own unique journey, and it's up to us to provide the love, care, and understanding they need during this transitional period. Whether it's offering comforting cuddles, engaging playtime sessions, or simply giving them space when they need it, our actions make a world of difference in helping our furry friends feel safe and loved. 💖

As Memorial Day approaches, we want you to have fun while keeping your pets safe!
Fireworks can be extremely stressful for animals. Here are some tips to keep them calm during the celebrations:
🐾Keep pets indoors and walk dogs during the day
🐾Provide a quiet space for them with plenty of distractions (toys, treats, soothing music)
🐾Check ID tags to ensure contact information is current
🐾Microchip your pet and contact the chip company to make sure your contact information is current if your pet is already microchipped

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- The large Dog Park at the North Myrtle Beach Park & Sports Complex will be closed on Monday, May 20 from 6 AM to approximately 12 PM. The Grounds Maintenance Team will be grading and preparing to lay new sod.

This process will entail relocating the dirt that has washed and eroded off the hill for preparation. The excess dirt will be used inside the Dog Park. Once this is completed, the large Dog Park will reopen. While this will reopen, there will be a portion that will remain barricaded. This portion is for the new sod. The actual sodding date is contingent on weather and sod availability.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and understanding while we strive to improve and maintain the large Dog Park for our canine guests and their owners.
