We have been fielding some calls, so wished to again share this info...
The Suburban Collection Showplace has been very proud to present the Novi Equestrian Expo (under several different names and auspices) over the past two decades; the event has always been a warm, fun celebration of the Southeast Michigan equine community… and an important local showcase and networking event as well. It is a tribute to all of our partners and friends that have worked so tirelessly each year to stage the event, that it reached this milestone at 21 years in 2016, but we feel that now is the appropriate time to discontinue the NEE, moving forward.

Management of the NEE was absorbed by Suburban Collection Showplace operations in 2009, during the recession, and participation did rebound to some degree. In recent years the attendance has again eroded, and it has become more challenging to keep the event economically viable and to attract fresh talent, audience, vendors and exhibitors each year.

We have deeply enjoyed working with the Michigan equine community, and plan to shift our attention and resources toward building the Equestrian Pavilion at the Michigan State Fair, held over Labor Day Weekend at the Suburban Collection Showplace, and we will continue to foster youth and 4-H involvement. The Michigan State Fair Equestrian Department ( including both Light Horse & Draft Horse) is extending the entry deadline to include entering at the show! Sara Ressler, Michigan State Fair LLC, Equine superintendent is pleased to offer this opportunity, in order to welcome more exhibitors to the State Fair, in an open show type of format. Peggy Brown is a Level IV Advanced Centered Riding and Driving Clinician from Ohio. She is classified as an Expert Instructor and Instructor Educator by the American Riding Instructor Association-- and was honored to be named their 2005 Instructor of the Year! Peggy generously shares her years of experience in competing, handling and training horses and riders in all disciplines including hunter, jumper, dressage, western, games and speed events, combined and pleasure driving, and trail competition. Peggy and her Haflinger mare, Ulie, have been North American Champions in Versatility and also in Games Events; they were also long listed for the United States Equestrian Team in Combined Driving. Peggy helps riders learn to use their bodies wisely to prevent injury and to communicate clearly, in balance and harmony with their horse. Working domestically and internationally, Peggy as the Visible Riderä wears a bone suit that helps riders learn more about their own bodies and how the rider’s position affects the horse’s body. THROW BACK THURSDAY at Novi Equestrian Expo: Harmony Acres poses with Rex Peterson, movie stunt trainer and his equine actor from Secretariat and other movies. I will be doing a clinic with Diamond and Tarifa on "How Horse Learn" this year on Dec 2 in the Main Arena at 7:15pm. We will have a booth for the whole weekend and have Tarifa's four books for sale in time for Christmas.
