A great weekend to ride your mountain bike or explore the Arizona Trail on foot. Such a special time of year during Monsoons. Warm days and rains come through to cool things down. ⛈️

We are a 420 friendly lodging outfit! ✌️ Support our local dispensary for all the fresh greens. Please enjoy yourselves outside while smoking your favorite herb, we appreciate it!

Local winery is open Friday-Sunday. Their new Rose is stellar!

Live music & food trucks this weekend too. See yall downtown Patagonia for a good time!

All 3 of our locations have great WiFi if you’re needing to check in with work or download a route on for your Arizona Trail adventure day.

The hotel property has been updated to Starlink, which has been a great addition for our guests on work trips, downloading media, or simple streaming needs while you’re chilling out. See yall in Patagonia real soon. ⚡️🍻✌️

Moody Monsoons moving through, bit of thunder, a lightning bolt or two. At 4,058ft in elevation, summer temps are pretty awesome, compared to urban centers. Especially as the rains pass by.

Snag a to-go beverage from & enjoy a storm under our covered patios. Or, head over there for some live music. Never miss a Sunday show. ⚡️🌹

The historical Lochiel school house was one of the first schools offering an educational program in the greater Patagonia region, built sometime before 1905. The building is made out of adobe, and it served this area until the late 1970’s. It’s now managed by the Patagonia Museum, who took it over from the Patagonia School District.

Visit the Patagonia Museum’s website for tour details and Lochiel clean up days. It’s a sweet spot to stop for lunch and enjoy the shade of their covered outdoor seating area. Please, pack out what you pack in!

Hours of dirt road riding right from the door at both of our properties & immediate access to single track that connects to the Arizona Trail - right in downtown Patagonia. Small town vibes, big mountain days!

Important! Pack a lunch & enough water for you, for at least 3 hours. The San Rafael Valley and our surrounding area has very limited resources. 💪🏻

The Strawbale, Ravens Nest, and Hotel units all have full refrigerators. Stock up for your group meals, light the bonfire and enjoy the stars.

Warm temps across the entire western United States & Tucson/PHX are toasty! Skip the heat, Patagonia is 10 degrees cooler, with evenings in the 70’s right now. Our AC is ice cold, too!

The new Gravel House building has seen so much change & progress in the last few weeks. 9 bedrooms + private baths are framed out, plumbing is in, electrical is set & our crew finished installing our new metal roof this week!

If all stars align, we will have our first County inspection next week & move into phase 2 where insulation, drywall & the communal kitchen will begin to shape the space into a warm, homey destination for all y’all folks visiting Patagonia.

This is a super exciting time for the TGH crew. We now have a full time manager, and property maintenance team. Wow! Thanks everyone who has believed in this project & stayed with us during your time in the Sky Islands.

The Gravel House is expanding! ⚡️

We’re so pumped to offer visitors of Patagonia this new space in 2023.

9 bedrooms, each with private baths. Some have outdoor patios. There will be a communal kitchen, bike storage, and laundry facilities.

The Straw Bale was built in 1997 by the original owner, from whom we bought the home and property.

It’s walls are 24in thick, creating a beautiful environment inside during both our warmer and colder months.

This house sleeps up to 6 comfortably & has a perfect kitchen for dinner parties. Cheers!

For all you gravel riders, the roads are riding super well right now. Be mindful of the new stop signs in town, and let’s all really try and stay to the right side of the road when riding in and around Patagonia. Thank you!

Patagonia sits at 4000ft in elevation, making it an incredible year round destination. When temps in Tuscon & Phoenix break the hundreds, we’re consistently 10-15 degrees cooler.

Our Story

Hello!

Kristi Mohn, Tim Mohn, Heidi Rentz, and Zander Ault here. We are the 4 wild souls behind The Gravel House. Kristi and Tim live in Emporia, Kansas, while Heidi and Zander call Tucson, Arizona home. The four of us are passionate endurance cyclists. Kristi and Tim own a bike shop and real-estate company in Emporia, Kansas. They recently purchased a Sync Van and travel the country in seek of long, dusty gravel roads and coolers filled with cold beers! Heidi and Zander own and operate a small cycling touring company, The Cyclist's Menu, and the Spirit World 100 gravel cycling event based in Patagonia, Arizona. Our commonalities are simple; outdoor recreation, soulful food and strong friendships. It is these loves of life that have allowed our paths to cross. The Gravel House is a physical, emotional and spiritual expression of this collaboration. We can't wait for you to experience it.

The Gravel House isn't just a cycling destination. The gravel roads that dot this widespread, vital ecosystem are the very roads that have allowed Kristi, Tim, Heidi and Zander to fall in love with this area. They define the true essence of our Nation's remaining wild, raw country. These friends have collectively created this destination experience for you to enjoy in whatever way you see fit.

And as much as our foursome loves the gravel cycling around here, we also really appreciate the hiking, tail running, birding, photography and relaxation that the quiet town of Patagonia provides. We hope that your stay will inspire you to a new place in your own soul.
