Frank Phillips owned a ranch in the county which was his showplace back in the day and which is now the showplace of Osage County - of which is the county seat!

Frank's ranch is known as Woolaroc and it is open to the public. It's a game preserve and also has a 50,000 sq ft world-class museum with one of the largest firearm collections IN THE WORLD!! Plus - it's just flat-out beautiful!!

Continuing on - and speaking of the Chapman Barnard Ranch where Ben Johnson grew up...
Did you know that part of that historic ranch is now the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve where over 2,500 bison roam the open range just like they did back 200 years ago??!! AND - you can drive through it and see the bison up close - but not too close! Don't get out of your car, because these beasts are far from domesticated!

Oh give me a home, where the buffalo roam...

He used to bring his friend, JOHN WAYNE, home to Pawhuska with him from time to time and they were even known to frequent the old barber shop downtown!
