During the cooler months, Pawleys is our favorite time to visit. Especially during the holidays. Last year, we wandered down to Charleston to explore Christmas markets and attend various events. We’ll try to post some of those here when they cross our path. Like this one!

🌟 🕯️ Night of a Thousand Candles!! 🕯️ 🌟

One of our FAVORITE things to do during the holiday season is visit Brookgreen Gardens for their Night of a Thousand Candles. It is extraordinary!! People come from all around to visit and tickets can be hard to come by. So snag your tickets now via the link below. It runs from 11/25-12/31.

Then head on over to Dieter and snag a few nights at Warwick 202 because we are literally right down the road. And YES - we decorate for Christmas at the condo, so you’ll definitely be all warm and cuddly in the condo at Christmas time. 🎄 🌟

THEN pick your favorite restaurant for dinner and make an early reservation OR try to score a reservation at Austin’s restaurant onsite at Brookgreen. It will be a night you’ll never forget!!

And while you’re there, head on down to Charleston and see if they have one of their Christmas markets or other events happening!

5 renters. That’s how many came between our family coming to spend time in our beautiful condo. Our home away from home. A place where we as a family come to enjoy the beauty and majesty of God’s creation. With our children.

And we would NEVER leave a rental unit like this.

Yesterday we arrived to damage. A broken decor box. Missing kitchen utensils and silverware (that we had just replaced!). Random coffee mugs and forks that aren’t even ours (now that’s a mystery!) All our mixing bowls are gone but the smallest one. Yes - 5 stainless steel mixing bowls with lids…stolen from our condo. I have no mixing bowls! 😡 And the worst…permanent damage to our brand new balcony furniture.

After spending 3 hours cleaning, I wandered onto the balcony to find the furniture in complete disarray and permanently damaged by…SUNSCREEN. Yep. Sunscreen. (Rules given to renters clearly state NOT to sit on furniture when wearing sunscreen. Or to rearrange furniture for that matter.) I used Dawn soap. I used Magic Eraser. I scrubbed…in ALL directions. If y’all have any other ideas, let me know. In the meantime, I don’t want to post all my thoughts about this situation because the fire of anger needs to come down a bit. But for now…

🔥 This is NOT how we do things.
🔥 This is NOT how people should treat other people’s property.
🔥This is NOT a Holiday Inn.
🔥This is our HOME.
🔥This is NOT ok.

Rest assured…there were only FIVE renters since we were last here. We know because we started our summer here. We come often. We clean deeply every time we come so the condo is always at its best for our renters. (Or hopefully is…people move decor all the time. That I can I live with, but damage?!)

Tomorrow morning, when the office opens, we will be going into the office to have conversations with the folks at Dieter, the company who rents it out. This is not their fault. But what renters may not realize is that they keep cleaning logs for EVERY renter. We WILL review those logs. We WILL find out which of the five renters did this. They WILL NOT be allowed to rent from us again.

Our hearts are broken. Remember our post when this furniture came? Remember how we waited TWO YEARS to make this happen for our renters? And five renters later…here’s where we are. It only takes one person to ruin it for everybody, doesn’t it?

We’re seeing a LOT of new people finding us these past couple months - WELCOME!!

We’re guessing you found us because you’re looking for units to rent in LBTS. We’re glad you found us!! We don’t advertise this page, but if you’re interested in renting with us, or have already rented with us, go ahead and follow/like this page. We started it for our friends and family that rent our condo so they could make the most out of their stay and enjoy Pawleys as much as we do. If you’re one of our guests, or thinking of becoming one of our guests, we’d love to have you here with us, too!

🏌️‍♂️⛳️ Calling all golfers!! ⛳️🏌️‍♀️

Admittedly, we are not golfers. But we know people who come to Pawleys to golf and they have some tremendous recommendations for our golfer guests!

Here’s what our friends have to say…

“Wilbrook and Heritage golf courses are the really pretty ones with a lot of giant live oaks.

Caledonia is a great course to play.

Pawleys Plantation has a Jack Nicklaus course.

Litchfield has Tradition Club and River Club which are nice courses.

All of the courses can be pricey, but deals can be found in the newspaper or on their page. Some of the courses have great dining at their clubhouses for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”

There are so many to choose from and I will admit that we stick to a select few because of our allergies, but these are among the local favorites that we frequent…usually trying to work in as many as possible while there!

A lot of these restaurants will take reservations. If they do, try to plan ahead. Once upon a time, even during the summer, we could call at 3pm and get a reservation for that evening. But not so easy any more. We recommend calling 5-7 days in advance during off-season and several weeks ahead (if you can) during peak season so you can go when you want and have your choice of times. But if you aren’t within these windows, call anyway. You never know! ❤️

Here’s our little secret for making arrivals less stressful and getting straight into the relaxation and fun…

Order your groceries to be delivered.

Yup! Instacart delivers, y’all! Publix, Lowes, and Food Lion are our favorite from which to order. (Or even Costco when we’re there for more than a week! 💃)

Make sure to change your delivery address, add the unit number, and in the comments section write something like “Please put groceries along the wall outside the unit door. Thank you!” And they will!!

Oh, and maybe ask them to deliver an hour or two after your scheduled time to arrive so you can bring your luggage in and be settled right when they’re delivering those frozen and refrigerated items. (They have on occasion delivered early too, so added safety measure!)

As crazy as it may sound - fall, winter, and spring are our favorite times to go to the beach. Don’t get me wrong - summer at the beach is always fun! But the other months are just so quiet and peaceful. Locals and snowbirds are present, full of southern hospitality, but you feel like you have pretty much everything to yourself.

February and April are completely booked up. But a couple weeks remain in March. Did we mention you don’t have to go for the whole week this time of year? So go tell your boss you’re taking a mental break and head to the beach. You won’t regret it!!
