: Now thats a mighty big catch!

🎣 This Kemp’s Ridley was accidentally hooked by an angler on the Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier. They followed proper procedure and contacted the pier manager who was able to alert our staff and volunteers, who were luckily nearby.
Together, they were able to safely recover the turtle, remove the hook and get him transported to Gulfarium CARE Center for a full check up!

🙌🏼 This was a perfect hooked turtle response! If you hook a turtle, don’t cut the line and contact our staff immediately. You won’t be in trouble, but it’s important we respond and determine if the turtle needs additional care. Swallowed hooks, tangled fishing line or other “souvenirs” can have serious impacts on a turtle’s ability to swim and feed normally if left untreated.

We want to thank our dedicated staff and volunteers and the Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier for making this response a success!
