Universal Orlando Resort Special Update: Hurricane Milton

Due to Hurricane Milton, Universal Orlando Resort is making the following operational changes for Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.
On Wednesday, Oct. 9, Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure & Universal CityWalk will be open until 2 p.m. and will be closed on Thursday, Oct. 10. *Note: Hours of operation are subject to change based on forecast alterations and some attraction and experience availability may be limited on Wednesday as we prepare for an early closure.
Universal Volcano Bay will be closed Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.
Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida is canceled for Wednesday, Oct. 9 and Thursday, Oct. 10.
Our hotels remain operational as they focus on taking care of our guests.
We anticipate a full reopening of our destination, including Halloween Horror Nights, on Friday, Oct. 11 at our normal operating hours pending the outcome of storm impacts.

Newest WDW announcements for Hurricane Milton:

We continue to closely monitor the path of Hurricane Milton. Based on the latest projection, we are making additional operational adjustments for the safety of our Guests and Cast Members beginning tomorrow, Oct. 9.

The Walt Disney World Emergency Operations Center is connected to weather experts and community leaders. Please know these adjustments have been made in order to leave plenty of time for our Guests and Cast Members to return to their Resort hotels or homes safely hours before higher winds are expected to reach Central Florida.

Operational Impacts Include:

Walt Disney World Theme Parks

On Oct. 9, our theme parks and Disney Springs will be closed in phases beginning at 1 p.m.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom will close at 1 p.m.
Magic Kingdom, EPCOT and Disney Springs will close at 2 p.m.
It is likely the theme parks will remain closed on Thursday, Oct. 10. We will consider opening Disney Springs Thursday late afternoon with limited offerings.
This includes the cancellation of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom on Oct. 10. Event tickets will be refunded.
Disney Resort Hotel Closures

Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will temporarily close beginning at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9. They are likely to remain closed until Sunday, Oct. 13.
Transportation

Walt Disney World Transportation will stop operating Wednesday, Oct. 9 after Disney Springs and the Walt Disney World theme parks close.
Limited Minnie Van and Mears taxi service will be available to Walt Disney World Resort Guests.
Recreation

Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will be closed on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Disney’s Blizzard Beach remains closed for planned refurbishment.
Reservations for Dining and Other Experiences

Effective immediately, we will not enforce cancellation policies until further notice for dining and other experiences.
Pre-paid bookable experiences will be automatically refunded within 7 to 10 business days.
Disney Resort and Room-Only Cancellation Policy for Reservations Booked Directly with Disney Destinations, LLC or The Walt Disney Travel Company:

Due to potential weather impacts to guest travel plans, change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates of Tuesday, 10/8 - Monday, 10/14.
Most room-only and vacation packages can be modified, or cancelled online, including changes to travel dates, without fees. Packages including air transportation or other services provided by third parties, or those with travel protection, cannot be modified or cancelled online. For Guests with these reservations, please call Disney Central for assistance.

Walt Disney World update for Milton:

Parks will remain Open on Tuesday

Walt Disney World Resort has announced the first closures as Milton barrels toward Florida. Some attractions are expected to be closed for days after the storm, according to a WDW statement.

Resort officials say they are “closely monitoring the path of the projected storm, and the safety of our Guests and Cast Members remains our top priority.” While Walt Disney World Resort “is currently operating under normal conditions and will continue to be on Tuesday,” officials have just announced the first closures. “Looking ahead, we are making “adjustments based on the latest weather forecast and some areas with unique environments.”

Those are:
* Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground (including dining and recreation locations), the Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will temporarily close beginning at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, Oct. 9.
* Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa are likely to remain closed until Sunday, Oct. 13.
* The Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge will likely reopen on Friday, Oct. 11.

The resort’s cancellation or change policy in regard to hurricanes reads as follows:
If a hurricane warning is issued by the National Hurricane Center for the Orlando area—or for your place of residence—within 7 days of your scheduled arrival date, you may reschedule or cancel your Walt Disney Travel Company Disney Resort hotel packages and most room only reservations (booked directly with Disney) without any cancellation or change fees imposed by Disney.

The NWS announced on Monday evening that Orlando (and much of the rest of west and central Florida) is currently under a Hurricane Warning, which means that hurricane conditions are expected.

Important news from Walt Disney World due to the Hurricane Helene:

Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party Cancelled Sept. 26


We are always looking to deliver a great and enjoyable experience for our guests. Due to forecasted weather and the impact to our outdoor entertainment offerings, we are cancelling Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party tomorrow, Thursday, Sept. 26. Guest tickets will be refunded.

While Magic Kingdom was scheduled to close tomorrow at 6 p.m., we are extending operating hours until 8 p.m. for guests to enjoy more time in the park.

🌀 Hurricane Beryl is a major, rapidly intensifying hurricane and potentially devastating threat to the Windward Island.

Beryl then faces an uncertain future in the Caribbean as meteorologists track two other systems in a busy pattern for this early in the season.

Current status: Beryl is centered about 400 miles east of the Windward Islands. It is moving quickly westward over the open waters of the central Atlantic Ocean. Beryl rapidly intensified into a Category 3 hurricane Sunday after first becoming a tropical depression on Friday, tropical storm early Saturday morning and first hurricane of the season Saturday afternoon.

Powerful HURRICANE BERYL rapidly intensified overnight, and now has maximum sustained winds of 120 mph! Beryl is forecast to cross very close to Grenada and St Vincent early Monday now as a category 4 hurricane! The official NHC track has been adjusted a bit south, and could pass very close to Jamaica by midweek, and toward the Yucatan by the end of the week. Gulf Coast still should keep watching this, as some models show it revamping in the Gulf and heading toward Texas after the Yucatan!

I’m thankful I have no clients that will be affected by this storm but am saddened for all the wonderful people that live in these areas. 😔
