The Brunswick Nuclear Site had a worn down floor coated with Keeler & Long 5500 from the 1970’s that needed recoating. The floor was coated with Amerlock® Sealer, PSX® 700 with 886 additive broadcast and PSX® 700 Clear. The staff was very pleased with the clean ability of the system and said that it has improved safety. PPG hosted an educational seminar at the Westin-Memorial City in Houston, TX on July 13th, 2017 highlighting the UL 1709 5th edition changes that affect the fireproofing market.
“The 5th edition of UL 1709 represents one of the biggest changes in the market as well as among UL fire standards,” said JP Leon, Americas PFP Manager, PPG. “PPG’s goal is to promote a deeper industry understanding. Our purpose for hosting this event is to educate key market players about correct product specifications that are designed to mitigate real life hazards.”
The seminar was well attended and plans for the next event are already in the works. A big thank you for all of those who attended!

The town of Erlanger, Kentucky wanted to repaint their 1943 historic caboose that sits in the city’s center. PRODUCT HIGHLIGHT:

PPG HI-TEMP 900 multi-purpose, high-temperature coating prevents corrosion in insulated and non-insulated services for carbon and stainless steels over an extreme temperature range of –300°F to 900°F (–185°C to 482°C). It is designed to resist severe ‘real world’ conditions of continually changing harsh environments allowing it to withstand the repeated cycle of thermal shock without affecting the coating. Because of its harder film, PPG HI-TEMP 900 is ideal for new construction.

PRODUCT HIGHLIGHT:

PPG HI-TEMP 808 liquid insulation minimizes the risk of corrosion under insulation (CUI), reduces operating costs and eliminates many issues associated with mechanical insulation. It can prevent heat loss resulting in energy savings and improved efficiency, and most importantly reduces the amount of heat transfer to protect personnel. At a maximum operating temperature of 350ºF (177ºC), there is a potential for a 52% reduction in heat loss.
