From South Jetty news editor Dan Parker: "I was shooting photos of people fishing at Roberts Point Park recently when I saw a bottlenose dolphin about 40 yards away suddenly leap a good six feet in the air, delighting everyone who was watching from the edge of the ship channel. I couldn't focus on it fast enough to get a good shot, but I watched for another minute, and the dolphin did it again. That time, I managed to get several decent shots off. I was lucky I had a long lens with me. As many of y'all know, dolphins commonly leap while riding the swells pushed ahead of ships, but this one burst skyward with nary a ship around."
