I just returned from the Annual Owner's Meeting. The property is in full construction mode. Nearly 90% of the owners are paying their Special Assessment (SA) charges and the rebuild project is well funded as long as the SA's continue to be paid.

Current reopening date is projected for August 2021.

I guess the 20% of lodging inventory yet to come back online is all the condo complexes that are being screwed by the insurance companies.

I would like to update everyone as to the current status of The Cantu Family Beach Condo. I attended an Owners Meeting this past Saturday. We voted in new board members, received an update on the status of our lawsuit against the insurance companies and discussed options on getting the property completely fixed and reopened.

Our options are to secure the financing needed to complete all the repairs. Use the available funds to repair what we can or do nothing and wait for the lawsuit to shakeout. While none of these options are very palatable to owners, and they each have their own pros/cons, who have been without income since Hurricane Harvey hit. These options will be put up to a vote once the new board members are brought up to speed and a financing package is arranged.

The contractor said once he is given the go ahead it will take at least 18 months to complete the project. This is based on the funding for the full repair being approved.

Once I have more information I will post another update.

I regret to inform everyone that the latest word is La Mirage will not be reopening until sometime after 2018. As we get updated information I will update here for all. Hoping for a better than ever property when its done.

Hurricane Harvey Update...I've been advised by the Manager on site that La Mirage will not be allowing guests on the property until at least January 1, 2018. There is a lot of damage throughout the property that will need to be repaired. Insurance adjusters and contractors are going unit by unit looking for signs of water damage and cutting out any drywall or flooring that shows water damage.

Hurricane Harvey Damage update: I had a chance to visit the property on Wednesday. The exterior and grounds suffered quite a bit of damage. Lots of cleanup already underway.

By the grace of God our unit did not suffer any damage beyond a small water leak in the ceiling of the living room and the air conditioner condenser unit on the roof being ripped from its tie downs.

While we pray for the best and await word on the condition of our condo I wanted to give those interested and/or concerned an update reported in the Port Aransas South Jetty News. We will continue to monitor and update as soon as we know more.
