Wednesday’s Wonders… some prefer theme parks, large outlet or shopping malls, and crowded beaches but this is the real Florida to me! The creator and developer of Port Cottages was born here so I know he saw many more fiddler crabs than me but even at thirty-five (35+) years ago for me, I saw thousands of these fiddler crabs along our local shorelines. I rarely saw them after Hurricane Michael but, lately I’m thankful to be seeing hundreds, if not thousands, again which makes this old Florida loving girl happy!! Someone asked if anyone had dove the Memorial Reef I shared in April. Thank you Mexico Beach Artificial Reef Association for this video and all you do to protect our marine ecosystem! I hope you all had a blessed weekend! This is quite personal but felt led to share… Yesterday was an emotional yet amazing day as the beloved creator, developer, and co-owner of Port Cottages, was laid to rest at Sandy Reef, a reef he was instrumental in creating! In addition to it being his final resting day, it was also the 11th anniversary of Port Cottages, Phase 1, grand opening! Not a coincidence to me that deployment would come to fruition on this day! If you are interested in information about a memorial reef sea burial, contact Mexico Beach Artificial Reef Association! It is a wonderful non-profit that “promotes the conservation and environmental improvement of our natural and artificial marine systems” in our area! If you are not in our area, contact Reefmaker directly and they may can guide you to a local Reef Association. Special thanks to Captain Kevin Lanier of KC Sportfishing for taking us out to witness his sea burial! He will now be remembered by land and by sea!

Our Story

Situated near historic downtown Port St. Joe and St. Joseph Bay, the Port Cottages are close to many points of interest including Port St. Joe Marina, historic Apalachicola, Mexico Beach & St. Joseph Peninsula State Park.

Port Cottages is a collection of ten pet friendly vacation cottages. Each two bedroom one and a half bath cottage features 3 flat screen TV’S and all the comforts of home. Full kitchen is equipped with the finest table ware and gadgets.

If beaches are your thing, when staying at the cottages you get to pick your beach. We are located in the center between Mexico/St Joe Beach and Cape San Blas. Spend your day at the beach of your choice then return for pool time and a stroll to your favorite restaurant.

A full size washer and gas dryer makes getting laundry completed a snap. Sleeping accommodations include a King Size bed in the master, two twins in the second bedroom, (or a queen option offered in the four Bay view units), and a queen size fold out sofa in the living area.
