Exploring the cataracts of the Nile in Aswan became an impromptu birding adventure as we ventured into the shallows. The cataracts served as a natural border between the ancient Egyptians and Nubians during the 18th dynasty. Today they provide the perfect habitat for kingfishers, cormorants, and herons of varying species. While Egypt is known for its ancient history and culture, there is still plenty of wildlife to be seen as well!

The event I most look forward to every year, our Collective - held at the this year! It was three days jam packed with networking, learning, and catching up with friends, old and new. All of this, to better serve my travelers and provide you with the best experiences out there! 110 supplier partners in attendance with 44 small group meetings, and countless other opportunities to make new connections.

I was completely honored to be selected by my peers for our Global Citizen Award this year, defined as someone “who represents our core values, strengthens our community, and strives to live out our mission of using travel as a force for good.” I feel so lucky to have such wonderful clients who want to explore the world and helped make this possible. And a huge shoutout to my fellow A2 advisors, support staff, and leadership - I would be nowhere without your guidance and support. We are truly a family! 💕

Cheers to the next year of adventuring! 🥂

📌Abu Simbel, Egypt

Abu Simbel - over 900 years older than Petra in Jordan. While Abu Simbel typically requires an extra flight to get there and sits right on the border of Sudan, it is absolutely worth visiting. The sheer scale of the building is jaw dropping and for anyone interested in engineering, you won’t want to miss this. This whole structure was disassembled and moved in the early 1960s during the creation of Lake Nassar, along with 23 other temples, to prevent it being flooded and completely lost. It was an international effort that took over 4 years as crews painstakingly cut the temple apart into sections, and moved it to where it sits today.

Cairo - a city of rich culture and history. Drive only 40 minutes across the river to Giza and you’re faced with massive ancient pyramids that sit right on the edge of a modern city. But in addition, you also have the history of Islamic Cairo which had a huge impact on how the city developed. Did you know that there are over 540 Islamic monuments in Cairo alone? This is just a small sample of what you can expect to see while visiting.

✨Hotel Highlight✨
Our first home in Cairo was the located right along the Nile and beautifully decorated for Ramadan. We were so lucky to have such a lovely suite with a full view of the Nile river along with a small balcony. The hotel is located along a major and quite busy road, but the windows are totally sound proof allowing for a very peaceful stay. In addition to well appointed rooms, the St Regis also has a comfortable pool and lounge area, the Iridium Spa (with fabulous treatments!), and several restaurants. The breakfast buffet is absolutely massive and has everything from your typical breakfast staples, a vast array of pastries, local Egyptian delicacies, and even an entire section dedicated to those who are gluten free! I lived for the sunsets here over the Nile each night and watching the city come alive as everyone made their way out for their first meal after fasting all day.
