About Freeman Race Fitness:
Matt Freeman is a licensed USA Cycling Level 3 Coach, Professional/Elite cross country mountain bike and Category 1 cyclocross racer, and former Expert/A-level off-road motorcycle racer. He spent the first 29 years of his life racing off-road motorcycles. Between 1996 and 2003, Freeman worked in the motorcycle industry doing business for companies such Dirt Rider magaz
ine, Cycle News, American Suzuki Motor Corp., Kawasaki Motors Corp., and American Honda Motor Company. During that time he learned the ropes of factory racing, helping to manage press relations for Suzuki corporate, Kawasaki’s factory road race and drag race teams, and Honda’s factory motocross, road race, and off-road teams. In 2000, Freeman began riding bicycles to rehab a torn ACL that he had suffered during a Cycle News photo shoot. One thing led to another, and by 2005 he had attained USA Cycling/International Cycling Union (UCI) Professional/Elite status in the cross country mountain biking discipline, Category 1 in cyclocross, and Category 2 in road cycling. His mountain bike racing highlights span a decade, ranging from the 2003 California State Cross Country Endurance Championship to a 2008 National Mountain Bike Series Singlespeed category win at Windham Mountain Ski Resort in New York, to numerous professional podium finishes in the California State Cross Country Mountain Bike Series. Freeman still competes in select mountain bike and road cycling races. Recently, the life-long lover of two wheels has even competed in a couple foot races, placing second overall and winning his age division in the 2011 Loma Linda Holiday Classic 15K, and finishing third overall in the 2010 Beautiful Run 5K. He plans to give triathlons a try one day, but right now he’s having too much fun riding and racing his bicycles, and helping athletes of all ages and abilities step up to the podium.
