Well, Florence pretty much missed us... however, Michael got us on the back side. Flooding started at sunset, peaked at midnight, and was gone by 6am. The Sound got pushed all the way to the ocean dunes. We had 4’ of water at Kiteborn. Just about everyone lost their vehicles as total loses due to the height of the water. Things are pretty much fine here now. Just a different vehicle parked under the house.

This is why you don’t leave a kite on the beach in Hatteras. In the span of a few minutes, a thunderstorm can roll in and change the wind direction 180 degrees and your kite (on the beach) is now facing the wrong way, and you’re lucky if you see it in time to reach it before it blows to the mainland.
