Mandatory evacuation orders for the entire Village of Ruidoso remain in effect overnight. Highway 70 remains closed from Highway 244 to the east Reservation line. The State Police have closed Carrizo Canyon Road to all traffic.

Officers will be looking for people driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs to reduce the number of impaired driving-related crashes and fatalities on our roadways.

Ruidoso Police Department strongly believes in the importance of saving lives through proactive strategies and encourages citizens to take an active role in their community and report suspected impaired drivers by calling 911. We need your help; if you consume alcohol or drugs, do not drive, and have a plan to get home safely.

Please utilize rideshare services and avoid drinking and driving at all costs. Through personal responsibility and proactive policing, we can make Ruidoso a safer place to live.
