Elope at the Eclipse on April 8, 2024

What is SYZYGY? The term "syzygy" is used in astronomy to describe a situation in which three or more astronomical bodies are in alignment. This word comes from the Greek word "suzugia" which means "union".

People most commonly use this term to talk about the relationship among the Sun, Moon, and Earth. This term is also used in other fields as well, usually in the sense of an alignment or unity.

On April 8, 2024, the perfect positioning of the Sun, Moon, and Earth will create a spectacular total solar eclipse. Astronomy.com lists Russellville, Arkansas as one of the Top 10 viewing locations in North America. Forbes.com has named the Total Eclipse of the Heart festival in Russellville as the #1 Eclipse Festival for the 2024 event!

The organizers of the Total Eclipse of the Heart festival have organized a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity called "Elope at the Eclipse" – A Celestial Wedding Ceremony for committed couples wishing to unite in marriage during the totality.

The wedding officiant, wedding cake, flowers, decorations, drink for toasting, and the Liverpool Legends performing live for the first dance… it’s all free... even the marriage license fee is reimbursed to the first 100 couples.

For couples who happen to be in love "To the Moon and Back", the Total Eclipse of the Heart festival in Russellville is offering a unique, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Astro-loving partners during this rare event - ELOPE at the ECLIPSE
All the couple needs is a wedding license and something special to wear. The wedding officiant is provided who is ready to marry them - along with dozens of other couples who are just as excited as they are to start a new life together. Decorations, flowers, wedding cake, and a bottle of sparkling fruit drink are all provided at no cost to the bride and groom.

It’s turning out to be a beautiful day, weather wise. We are planning, WEATHER/WIND PERMITTING, to have a balloon glow THIS EVENING, (around dusk) also tether rides. While we cannot predict the weather, all ballooning events are weather permitting. Join us May 6th…tomorrow! If and when the balloons come out to glow/tether it is after sunset.
Tethered rides are $20 for adults and $10 for 12&under.
The wristbands for the bounce houses are $20 as well.
We have local vendors all day ready to feed you and show off all their arts and crafts.

WEATHER PERMITTING, balloons will be out this evening glowing and offering tethered rides. BALLOONS ARE NOT OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY.

Events are still happening! We have the Chainsaw Carving Competition going on as well as vendors and food trucks on site. We will also have live music beginning this evening!

We are so excited to have LAN LAW Music perform on Friday evening May 5th at the Russellville Soccer Complex!
