A recent English descriptor that was in some copy I was asked to proof (already was translated, allegedly): "The integrated hoody can be fixed and will not blow up" on your run -- Am I glad the hood will not blow up while I'm running!!! Exploding hoods don't make for good PR.

Das Wort "Sh*tstorm" obwohl allmaehlich in Deutschland gang und gäbe geworden ist ist nicht ein ganz nettes Wort, sogar vulgar! aber hier ist es in der Headline der Zeitung "Die Welt." wow.

Germans don't quite realize that the word "sh*tstorm" is considered, per Oxford, "vulgar slang" for something marked by violent or abusive controversy. Here, we have that word actually in the headline of DIE WELT newspaper, a liberal-conservative paper, in covering a controversial situation regarding the Hofbräukeller München restaurant. I say,YIKES!

Germans tend to say "nature" in places where in English we would often say "outdoors" or perhaps "Mother Nature." well, unfortunately "Nature is calling" doesn't quite have the same, er, meaning in Englisch.....if you know what I mean. (auf DE: mal wohin müssen...)

Need a giggle? I will not reveal the company but I had to laugh aloud when I saw this English in a document: "betrayal us one thing..." Of course, they meant to say something like "reveal" or "tip us off" or something of that sort (verraten). Whew! At least I caught it!
