Races
There are three different race distances: 500 meters, 1 mile and 5K. Date, Time & Place
Races will be held Sunday, August 21 at Forest River Park, 98 West Ave., Salem, MA 01970. Races start at 12:30pm
Entry Fees:
Adult – Registration is $40 through Aug. 19, $50
Youth, 17 & under – $30 through Aug, $40 Race Day

• The race field is capped at 250 swimmers. Race Day Registration and Check in
Registration and check in will be open from 10:30am-12:30pm. Swimmers must have completed check-in and body marking prior to the safety meeting which will start at 12:45pm. Race day registration will only be available if the race has not reached capacity. Tee Shirts
Event tee shirts will only be given to swimmers who register by Sunday, August 7. Course Description
The 5K race consists of 3 laps around a rectangular course starting on the beach. The 1 mi race consists of 1 lap around a rectangular course starting on the beach close to the course. The 500 m race is a straight line out and back starting on the beach. Warm-up
Swimmers will be able to warm up using the 500 meter course from 11:30-12:30. The course will be monitored and patrolled. Wetsuits
Wetsuits are allowed will be judged in a separate class. Timing and Results
Electronic chip timing will be provided by Granite State Race Services
Safety
Brightly colored swim caps will be provided and required. Numbers will be written on the caps, swimmers arms and on hands for those wearing wetsuits. Safety kayaks and rescue boats will be on the course as well for emergencies. Water Temps
Mean water temperature at this time of year is 68 degrees. Free Parking and Free Admission to Park
The City of Salem has waived admission fees to the park for this event. Overflow parking will be available 0.7 miles away at the O'Keefe Center at Salem State University, 225 Canal Street, Salem. This is a festive event, with music, raffles, a marine touch tank and more. Families can picnic and enjoy the wooded Forest River Park.
